Justin's POV:

"Your left pupil is dilated and with the blood forming in your sclera, I'd like you to get a CT scan and see an eye specialist.
Other than that, your bruises will heal.
I just don't know how you were able to regain consciousness after taking that hit. Its pretty remarkable!" the Doctor babbled on.

I wasn't paying much attention.
My brain felt like the white static on a television screen.
I was numb and void.

Joey was standing close by, I could see the concern on his face, but I didn't have the energy to care.

I zoned the doctor out and left Joey to deal with the details.

I wonder where she is.
Did she leave?
Does she hate me?
Why did I want to get up and find her?

Because she means something to you.

My subconscious was meddling again.

"Shut the fuck up and leave me alone!"

I didn't even realize that I had said that out loud, until I saw the look on everyone in the room's face.

"You don't have to be so damn rude Justin! The doctor is just doing his job!"
Joey was turning red as he spoke.

"I..I didn't mean to say that out loud.
I was talking to myself.
I'm fucking sorry...ok?"

They both just continued to stare at me, like I was batshit crazy.

"Well maybe you need that CT scan sooner than later...but you have your press interview to get to.
They're all waiting."

I got up and walked towards the shower.
I wanted to be alone.

"Well they can wait until I'm good and fucking ready."

The warm water did nothing to calm my nerves.
If only I would have stayed unconscious.
I craved the blackness and wanted to escape feeling anything.
But I couldn't escape her.
Even with my eyes closed under the warm water, I saw her perfectly.
The way she looked at me as I pressed her up against the wall, the heat in her eyes.
She had wanted me, just as badly as I wanted her.
But soon enough, all I saw was devastation.
Visually watching her heart break, before she disappeared.
I couldn't take this....this continuous repeat of our bodies colliding and then separating.
I had no will left, not even to fight myself.

I shut the water off and got dressed.
I had to put on a mask of indifference for the media.
Welcome to the big show, you selfish bastard.

UFC Post fight press interview

I walked onto the stage set up in front of the press.
The shades on my eyes weren't keeping all of the flashing lights out and my head was pounding.
I was wearing a large brimmed black hat to help hide my injuries.
I usually lived for the attention, but in this moment I despised it...wanted nothing to do with it.
But I sat in the chair like the dutiful puppet they all wanted me to be.
I grabbed the water bottle that was set in front of me and took a long swing.
As the questions began, I absentmindedly played with the bottle cap.

"Justin Congratulations on winning your first UFC fight! How does it feel?"

What a fucking lame ass question.

"It is what it is.
I won...
I knew I would win.
The end...
On to the next one."
