Chapter 19b: Do you believe in Mirakekz?

"Neigh."

Kyle said bluntly as he stood over the faggot's rotting corpse. He'd been waiting there a while now for the dust to clear, and now the band of unlikely heroes reformed around where the battle had ensued. 

"That was... truly euphoric!"

Tim exclaimed, his mouth agape and his fedora at a slight angle; a sign that he had just been out-edged.

"Your edginess is beyond measure, Kyle! Alas, I fear that we are wasting time in awe of your euphoria, as magnificent as it is. We must press on towards the modship."

And so the group departed towards the cave just beyond the horizon. Something however, had clearly affected Brian. He staggered behind the group and eventually came to a stop, yet Mel seemed to be the only one to notice the condition of her companion. 

Suddenly, light began to drain from around them; the sky seemed to melt into the ground, into a colourless pool and then a dim light began to shine from Brian. Slowly, it got brighter and brighter: he appeared almost iridescent as Mel moved towards him, tears beginning to well in her eyes. Then one by one, tiny little particles of the light began to radiate from Brian like embers from a campfire. 

"Brian.... what's happening?"

Mel questioned. Brian could do nothing but stare back at her feeling turmoil welling up from within; he yearned to stay and find the modship with her, but what was done, was done. Brian knew what he had done, as a magical creature bound to this world through the power of friendship (Loljk that's cheesy as hell, it's euphoria. Everyone knows that) he had breached the terms of his contract to this world; specifically, that of eating an unnamed character (That's actually a thing. Go and read back if you don't believe me).

Mel sobbed into her hands as she realised what was hapening; if she hadn't have rushed to help someone in need and heeded the advice given to her, maybe Brian wouldn't have had to protect her - no, he wouldn't have had to protect her. And as the last few lights dissipated into the air, one might have noticed a faint smile play across Brian's face....
