The walk seemed like it would last forever! A few moments ago, the guards had bound both of Seth's hands together, and now it was as if they were walking a trick maze that never ended. After the first ten to fifteen turns, Seth gave up on keeping track of where they were. It was a hopeless attempt. They had probably been walking for twenty minutes or so when Seth decided he needed to get a look at his surroundings. So he subtlety leaned his head to the right until he felt the hard stone wall of the hallway. Then he rubbed his head on the wall and scooted the blind fold off his eyes. It must have been the most perfect timing. They had blind folded Gavin too and were walking past a hallway. At the end of this hallway was a wall of barrels...every barrel had a sign over it! One of them said, "To Lost Mesa", one said, "To Crescent Lagoon", but Seth's favorite was the one that said, "To Fablehaven"...
Navarog stopped and looked down the hall. So Seth leaned toward the wall and maneuvered the blind fold back over his eyes. He heard Navarog asking,
"Can either of them see?" There was a moment of silence where Seth assumed the guards were checking the blind folds, then they kept moving. Seth decided from that point on he would memorize every turn they took.

Now Seth sat in a hard metal chair that he was shoved into a few minutes ago, hands still bound with rope. He had been led through a few hallways and two more doors since he last looked around, and now here he sat, clueless of his surroundings and still wearing a blindfold. He could here Gavin whimpering off in another room, and was really worried. Why would he be so upset? What were they going to do to him? Navarog had said he was "mostly innocent". What could Gavin have done wrong? All of the sudden a strong hand pulled the blind fold off of Seth's face without a word. The first thing he saw was a glass window where he could see Gavin, who was no longer wearing a blind fold in the corner of a small room crying...Seth turned just in time to see a guard (who he assumed had removed the blind fold) exit the room he was in and lock the door. A moment later the same guard was in the room with Gavin. The room was full of different large objects all covered by fabric. Seth ran up to the glass and knocked on the window with his forehead.
"Hey!" He shouted. No one turned. "What are you doing to him?" But no one would listen. So Seth decided to watch. Him yelling wasn't going to do any good. He could hear everything they were saying...Navarog was screaming at Gavin.
"What authority you think you have to talk back to me?" He screamed this and kicked Gavin in the shin. "When will you learn your lesson?"
"I'm sorry..." Gavin was whimpering. But Navarog snapped his fingers and the guards lifted him each grabbing an arm. Gavin was helplessly squirming in the air. He made eye-contact with Seth...And it was the saddest, most hopeless look he had ever seen. Navarog led the guards to the other side of the small room and pulled the fabric off of one of the larger objects. There uncovered in front of him stood a gallows. A terrifying, aged, wooden gallows with a chair waiting under the rope.
"No!" Seth screamed. Hitting his head against the glass. Then he realized...the window was made of glass...what else could he use in this room? Among some of the covered objects there were a few uncovered things...of them the only ones that could be useful were a dagger, a stretcher, a rope, and a bookshelf filled with potions. Seth turned his attention back to Gavin as he screamed while the guards pulled the rope around his neck and stood him on the chair.
"Stop screaming." Navarog said calmly. Gavin shut up real quick and instead bit his lip to stop from crying. What could Seth use to cut the rope...perhaps...broken glass? He pulled at the ropes on his wrists, but it was no use. It wasn't coming off if he didn't cut it. Looking back at the potions, Seth noticed every flask had a skull logo on it. The idea came in an instant. Holding his breath, Seth ran forward while covering his neck and threw himself into the glass. It shattered before him leaving some impressive damage on the ground and on his body. He was sweating a lot. He could hear his heartbeat.
"Are you crazy?" Gavin screeched. Without thinking Seth grabbed the closest shard of glass and quickly cut the rope. Too quickly. The glass slit his wrist and Seth knew he had to hurry. Covered in centimeter deep cuts, he sprang onto his feet to face Navarog. He smirked.
"This..." Seth started as he wiped blood from his cheek. "This is what you get when you mess with a Sorenson." With that he ran at Navarog and elbowed him with all the force he could manage. Struggling to stay on his feet, Navarog fell back into the potion shelf and began screaming...Seth heard sizzling...and then the potions began to react with each other and a foamy green substance began expanding quickly across the room consuming Navarog and a few of the guards. Seth swiftly ran to Gavin and lifted him by the waist. Gavin pulled the rope off his neck, and Seth grabbed his wrist and bolted down the halls leading to the barrel. Left. Right. Left. Left...eventually one last turn took them to the barrel. Seth noticed now that the line of barrels was sitting in a large tool shed full of things that would have been useful ten minutes ago. Disappointed, Seth turned to Gavin.
"Wow, you're fast." He said.
Seth shrugged. "Thanks." Looking down at his cuts, he breathed in threw clenched teeth and covered the one on his wrist with his other hand.
Gavin went white. "Seth! You're gonna bleed out!"
Seth gestured to the barrels. "Do you know how those work?"
"Kind of..." he replied. "We need to get you help first!"
Seth shook his head. "I'll worry about that once we get home."
Gavin hesitated, but nodded anyway.
"Go crouch down in the barrel and wait...Hopefully there's someone on the other side to pull you out."
"Where?" He asked.
"Fablehaven."
"Fablehaven?!"
Seth nodded.
"You're telling me that barrel moves you from a strange tool shed to Fablehaven?" He jumped and covered his mouth with his hands. "I'm finally getting out of here?"
Seth shushed him. "Say it a little louder Gavin, I don't think the entire dungeon heard you. Now go!" Gavin nodded and ran to the barrel. A few seconds later to Seth's surprise he disappeared, and Seth began to climb in. Then he paused. Looking around the tool shed he spotted a sledge hammer...no, he couldn't stay! But if he didn't destroy the barrels then Navarog could find them easily. If they pulled Gavin through they must be willing to pull Navarog through...wait, if Gavin looks like Navarog then...what could they have done with him? Its only been a minute, could he already be dead?! No...they would want to ask him questions...to find Kendra...with Gavin at Fablehaven, Seth's family could easily come back and find him...so in that case...Seth took a look at his wrist and sighed. He couldn't leave Kendra. If he died to save his family by bleeding out smashing these barrels, it was for a good cause. He stepped out of the barrel and gripped the hammer. Standing back, he swung back, took one last look at the barrel, and pulled down as hard as he could...but the hammer wasn't in his hands...Seth whirled around to see good old dragon boy himself half-singed and holding a sledge hammer. And he was not happy. Holding his breath, Seth prepared for the impact as Navarog threw the sledge hammer with all the force he could manage. The impact knocked Seth to the ground and left his chest numb while the pain spread to the rest of his body. With how much that hurt, Seth guessed his rib cage was broken.
Navararog leaned over him and whispered, "Ooh, that looked like it hurt." He chuckled. "You're dead, Sorenson."
Seth trembled and screamed, "KENDRA!" Just as a metal link two sizes too small was linked around his ankle and pulled roughly in the other direction.
