Unwary of any possible consequences we didn't know about outside of our created dream world, not caring if anyone outside our dream could hear, Bill laughed hysterically to himself from where he lay beside me in my bed, so hard that he literally jerked forward, clutching his stomach. I prayed so hard that the sound was contained entirely in my head, since the last thing I wanted was to have one of the only nice things I had ripped away from me. The sound of his laughter was the lullaby keeping me asleep, tucked away safely from the fight that Mum and Roger were having, despite the fact that, last time I checked my clock, it was almost four in the morning. Their screaming had woken me up once, but I was coaxed back into the warm, comforting embrace of sleep before too long, drowning them out with the promise of Bill lingering, waiting for me just on the other side of my consciousness.

Now oblivious to the fight I didn't know a thing about, the aura of laughter pervaded my body, infecting me with the urge to join in right alongside him. "Seriously," I continued our conversation from earlier. "She turns around with the sternest, most determined expression, so she goes to find him, and he's walking right behind her, and she just turns back around to face me and we both just launched into hysterics." I paused, allowing for time to serve up another round of gut-wrenching laughter. "And of course, Ellie being Ellie, after he's gone past, she snivels at him all dramatic-like, like she's actually going to go beat him up or something, and it just made everything that much funnier. It was probably one of the best moments of my life."

"Oh, god, I think I'm crying a little," Bill coed in the hysteric aftermath of the communicable mirth, bringing his hand up and wiping a bit at his eyes.

I leaned forward just a little bit, peeking over him so that I could read the digital numbers on the clock beside my bed. They informed me that it was almost seven o'clock in the morning, meaning that I was already running late, since I usually had my alarm set for a couple minutes past six. Ellie would be arriving at my house any minute to come collect me for school, but nothing about that even mattered in the slightest bit to me at the moment. Monday mornings were never fun, and plus, her and I had spent the entire weekend, Friday night to late Sunday afternoon, with Joey, Josh, Yosuke, and his girlfriend, Samantha, meaning I was pretty out of it from the lack of sleep we'd all gotten. There wasn't a sleepover involved (because of me, because had I been asleep with three guys around me, I thought Bill might get a bit suspicious, and I wanted to keep him and Joey as far apart as I possibly could), but we were together for pretty much every moment we were all awake. We hadn't really done anything special with our time together, but for someone who's become more than used to spending the majority of her time by herself, extended contact with a group of people was exhausting, especially, I found, because actually enjoying the fact that there were people and having fun with them took a lot more energy out of me than I'd thought it would.

The sleepiness combined with the fact that there was nothing I loved more about my life lately than the extended contact I got to have with Bill on a nightly basis forced me to the decision that I just wouldn't wake up and go to school. I couldn't hear Mum moving about in the house, meaning that either her medication or Roger had knocked her out, and Roger had already left for work. Ellie was far from patient, so she wouldn't wait long for me before just heading off on her way. Thusly, I resolved to stay in bed until Bill was summoned back to his reality, and without him there to adhere me to my dreams, I would wake up and just go to school late.
