The Phoenix's Mate

Chapter 3

Flair's POV

     I turned around when I heard my mate growl at something behind us and I see wolves and they smell like death so it's obvious that they're rogues but I can't fight them unless I want to put Jade in danger or show my true self then smelling like a werewolf and acting like one as well.

So I slowly backed up closer to my mate while keeping Jade close to me protectively and watched as a rogue shifted and put on pants and looked at me with cold eyes and maybe even a bit of lust in them which want to make me puke.

"Give me the girl and no harm will come to your pack." The rogue said but instead the pack growled and my mate put me behind him protectively. The warriors are protecting me because they heard my mate saying that I'm his and I wasn't surprised by that but I am surprised that they want to protect me even though they just met me and as for my mate that's understandable.

"Why do you even want her you mutt, she belongs in Blood River pack not to you rotting fleabags." My mate growled out and let me just say that it might of turned me on a bit or it's just me finally relaxing a little after all these years of being matless and have someone to help protect Jade.

The rogue growled, then shifted and attacked my mate but he quickly shifted in mid air and start to fight the rogue while the other pack members started to attack the rogues but as for me, I quickly went up to the nearest tree and stayed far away from the fight just to protect Jade but I did help a little bit by burning the rogues feet and watched them trying to fight while trying to figure out what's hurting them at the same time.

I watched the rogues die and I made sure that Jade stayed asleep through the whole thing and hoping that she doesn't wake up and see the snow covered in blood and dead rogue bodies. I slowly climbed down but I somehow missed a step and waited for my back to make a lovely meet with the ground but nothing came and when I looked up I see that my mate caught me.

"Now may I have the pleasure of finally knowing my mate's name?" He asked while gently putting my feet to the ground; I noticed that the patrol are looking for any other trespassing rogues.

I smiled up at him gently. "My name is Flair, Flair Firewing and you my handsome mate?" I said/asked while still smiling and I watched as he smiled back. "Aaron Hudson, Alpha of the Blood River pack." He said but when he said the name of the pack my eyes went wide with shock and awe.

I have a second chance mate who happens to be the alpha of the biggest and most powerful werewolf pack in the US! But here I am shocked and in awe at the same time that I forgot where we are, what my name is and that Jade is in my arms and now crying for food. So I quickly snapped out of my shocked and awe expression and quickly calmed Jade down but quickly freezed when I realized that Aaron is right here and probably thought that I had a kid with another male (which wasn't a lie) that wasn't my mate or I was forced to have a child and only keeping her so she doesn't have a bad life or worse.

I felt the eyes of Aaron on me and I waited for the rejection or the questions or maybe both but either way I just kept my head head down and not taking my eyes off of Jade who is now awake and looking at Aaron and making grabby hands to him.

"What's they're name?" Aaron asked which shocked me because I wasn't exepting that question but I answered anyway. "Her name is Jade."

"Did you have her by force or choice?" He asked another question which I quickly explained and gave a short story. "It was by choice before my first mate died...."

I felt tears going down my face and looked back down at the ground but I looked back up when I felt gentle and soft fingers bring my head back up and into his light gray eyes and all I see is love and sadness for me. "I'm sorry about what happened to your first mate but I promise that I won't reject you because I've waited too long for you to come, my brave mate and I'll help you raise Jade and won't care what everyone else think because you're brave to live as a rogue by yourself while taking care of a child." Aaron said smiling gently which I returned and hugged him as best I could without squishing Jade.

"Let's get you two inside where it's warm and feed you both." He added and gently pulled away from the hug but doesn't let go of my free hand and gently leads the way which I guess is the direction to the pack house.

Even though I'm not really cold at all but I don't complain since it would be nice having not to use my fire so much and just waste my energy all the time to keep both Jade and myself warm. "I would love that." I smiled and just kept following him while holding his hand with my free one all the way to the pack house where I'll start my new life and have another chance of a happy ending...... hopefully.
