ALEX(one year later)

Yup, one whole year, today is are anniversary, yippee! The truth? This relationship is hell! I'm sick of Seeing Devon and not being with her. I don't love Delly, she acts like she's my mother. I'm sick of this whole stupid relationship and i just want to end it! But i can't. Not today at least, I'll do it soon though, maybe even tomorrow! But i won't, because i don't have the guts. Delly kept squealing and kissing me, just to make a big show for everyone. Hey everyone come look, it's the school's favorite couple's anniversary! I glance at Devon, she looked.......pained. Stop Alex she does'nt like you back, she can't anyway!

Ring!  A wave of kids slowly walked towards the building, Delly had a firm grip on my hand, as soon as we walked in she steered me towards the janitor's closet. "Were gonna be late for homeroom." i complained.

She sighed and gave me a look. "What is up with you lately? Your acting like you don't.......love me anymore!"

I never did, i thought to myself. "Listen Delly, i just......." How was i supposed to explain this? Hey Delly I don't know if you've noticed yet but.....im in love with your best friend, bye!

"Fine, don't tell me!" Delly exclaimed, then she turned on her heel and stomped away.

I sighed, and ran a hand through my hair, then i picked up my books, and swiftly walked to homeroom.

DEVON

I sat at my regular study hall table, studying for math, yipee. Today was Alex and Delly's anniversary, oh sorry DELEX's anniversary. I had tried to hide my sadness this morning, but Alex had given me a concerned look so i might not have been so convincing. For over the past year i had played the best friend for both Alex and Delly. I sat through endless talks from Delly about how hot Alex was, or that she was worried he was'nt interested anymore. Strangely enough, Alex hardly ever talked about Delly, unless i brought her up. Maybe Alex does'nt even like Delly! But that would break Delly's heart, and so would me dating him. Oh this is so frustrating.  "Hey Dev!" I heard a chipper voice say. I turned and came face to face with Delly herself.

"Hey, happy anniversary!"

She laughed,"You make it sound like were married!"

"Well  with the way things are going you could be soon." The words physically pained me when they left my lips.

Then, with no sudden warning, Delly burst into tears. People around us turned to look with confusion written on their faces. I quickly shot up and steered Delly to the girls bathroom, thankfully it was empty. "Delly what's wrong?" I asked concerned.

" I just don't think he loves me anymore. Today he seemed so distant when i talked to him. He looked annoyed whenever i kissed or hugged him! I don't know what to do, I think he isnt interested anymore! I love him!" She exclaimed.

"Oh Delly it's ok! If he didn't like you he would Tell you, you have been dating for a year. He just needs to hike up his skirt and be a good boyfriend already!"

    "You, you think?" she sniffled.

"Yeah, he loves you Delly." I felt do bad, i knew what i said was a lie.

She hugged me real tight and sniffled "Thanks Dev." Then she turned towards the mirror and started to clean herself up. Typical Delly. I waited for her to finish and then together we walked out.

The bell rang for lunch and Delly and I walked to our usual spot underneath the big tree with the red leaves. As we sat down i could'nt help starring at the leaves, they were a bloodred color, beautiful against the bright blue sky. The red was even more beautiful on the ground, the lush green and dark red looked sickeningly beautiful. I sat and talked with El and Abby, out of the corner of my eye i saw Alex approaching us, no doubt to be with Delly.
