Falling

Chapter 3

ALEX

I sat in the car with Delly, wringing my hands. I had pulled over on our way to school because i had to tell her something, something i knew she would be very unhappy to hear. Devon had asked me to telll her, right after we had kissed Devon had burst into tears. I knew this would be hard for Devon, Delly was her best friend. I still could'nt believe Devon had picked me over Delly, it made my feel like a jerk, and happy at the same time. I looked up at the sky, it was a bright blue fall day. A huge tree sat a little while a way from me, its leaves were completely orange. The trees were swaying in the breeze and there was a slight chill in the air. I bit my lip, "It's a really beautiful day?" I said, but it ended up sounding like a question.

   Delly sighed, i could see some tears swimming in her eyes and one spilled out, streaking down her tanned cheek. Her blue eyes were now producing a stream of silent tears, she took a shaky breath and then turned to look at me. "Your gonna break up with me are'nt you?" She asked in a whisper.

    I slowly nodded my head, up and down. With that small movement i had set her off into sobs. Not the loud sniffly kind, the heartbreaking silent kind were there's nothing you can do but just sit there and watch, and hope that it will stop soon. I had never been the dumper so i didn't know what to do, do i comfort her? Oh this was horrible.

    "Who?" She mumbled.

     "What?" I said confused.

      "Who's the other girl!" She yelled through her sobs.

     I sighed, "Delly, you have to know that i have been in love with her for a long time, i just, did'nt know.........how to tell you."

       She nodded her head and then looked at me expectantly.

      " Last night, when me and Devon were driving to the restaurant, it started to rain. It wasn't like a light drizzle Delly, it was pouring." I took a shaky gulp of air, and then continued," We pulled over to a gas staiton and,  she was standing there, laughing at our situation, like, gee this is the best thing in the world, and she looked so beautiful and happy. I couldn't help it Delly, i kissed her, and she.....she.....kissed me back." I finished with a long sigh of relief, and then looked at Delly. Her face was red with rage.

     "Delly?" She whispered. I nodded and that little movement set her off again.

      "THAT LITTLE BITCH! I TRUSTED HER, SHE KNEW I LOVED YOU! HOW COULD SHE?" Delly shrieked and then flung open the car door. She started to stomp off to the school.     

"Delly get in the car!" i yelled getting worried. She turned to me in anger.

"Please?" I said.

 She sighed and then made her way towards me grumbling" only because were and hour late."

I didn't know it then, but that converstation had saved me. If i hadn't been and hour late, who knows were i would be now. Perhaps i would be happier, perhaps i could have saved other people. But i'll never know, because no matter how much i regret it, i will always be an hour late on that day. I can't change it, and im starting to except that.

 

DEVON

I laughed and trudged to the big tree with my frliends. How great is study hall? They just let us roam the school, i feel bad for the band geeks who just had to be in choir too, they don't have a whole period of freedom. Even though i was trying to act happy, i so wasn't. Waves of guilt had been washing over me for the past like 18 hours. I got almost no sleep last night, and im taking alex and Delly being late as a bad sign. She'll hate me, i know she will. I sighed and looked up at the tree, still red as ever. "Devon Shay you bitch!" I heard a girls voice yell. My head snapped up, and then i saw her. Delly, with tears streaking down her face stormed across the schoolyard, towards me. Her hair blew in the wind behind her, Delly has always been prettier than me, and the way she looked now reminded me yet again. I didnt deserve Alex, she did. How had i just taken him from her? Im a horrible friend, i deserve all the hateful words she's about to shoot at me. So i settled myself under the tree and awaited her, and her storm of fury.

    She towered over me,if looks could kill i wouldl be at my own funeral right now. "You!" she spat." You don't deserve Alex, you took him from me, AFTER YOU PROMISED ME HE LOVED ME!" She bellowed, can girls bellow?

    "Delly i am so sorry......" She cut me off.

     "I hate you!? she screamed. "Your a bitch, and a whore, and a......a.....loser. You might even be a prostitute! i don;t know if what you say is true anymore!"

    I started to cry, i couldnt help it. I know i deserve the words, but they stilll sting like purelle on a paper cut. Then i saw something that literally made my heart stop, matt, from my first period history class, with a gun. He was just walkin up to the school, he had a maniac look in his eye. Fear ran through my body.

     It was then that i pushed Delly down, so i was the thing he saw, instead of delly. I saw him lift his gun, but i didnt, i was too in shock to realize what was happening. I heard a sound, like a firecracker, and then i felt a sharp pain in my chest. I was falling, falling, i looked up at the sky. I saw red leaves against a pure white cloud. Like blood on pale white skin, and then. Blackness, dark, a small light, nothing.

 

 

OHHHHH SNAP! YOU DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! NO! If this is short i appologize, but this time i have a reason. DER BEEN SOME TESTING DOWN AT MAH SCHOO! and i was really late at updateing.
