It was raining again, typical for the U.K.

I laid down on my floral bedsheets, ukulele in my arms, singing along to whatever was playing. Half way through a song, there was a knock on my door. I got up and turned my speakers down. I opened the door to see my mum standing there. Well my adopted mum.

"Oh hey, Ma," I have always called her that. She smiled and walked into my room. There was a worried look on her face.

"First things first, I got a something in the post for you, sweat pea," She handed over the parcel. I instantly knew what it was. My non-binary flag! I ripped open the box and immediately wrapped the flag around me, making my Mam chuckle lightly.

"Aw hun." She said, "So my boss just called me," I nodded, "I got the promotion!"

"Ma, that's bloody amazing!" I know how hard she worked so I was so happy for her.

"There's, um, one issue." She spoke, looking at the ground. "They want to move me to a different branch of the international line. This branch is based in America."

My heart sank. "Does that mean what I think It means?" I asked.

"We'll be moving at the end of October. We have five months. I've already looked at apartments and I have found a suitable one. Flights have been paid for already." She said quietly.

My first thoughts were of my friends. I'd have to tell them. I went over to my Mum and hugged her. She thanked me and told me how grateful she was that I was so understanding. All I did was nod and make small 'mhm' sounds.

Mam went off to make some arrangements. I grabbed my phone and sent a message to my group chat.

Morgan:
Guys, come to mine asap i got huge news.

I waited till everyone had responded, there were only five of us so it wasn't too long off a wait. They said they'll all be here in ten minutes. So while I waited I put my flag up on my wall. I wrapped some LED lights around it. It looked good. I made sure my outfit was on point and my hair looked, uh, decent at least.

"Morgan, your mates are here!" I heard my Mum shout.

"Send 'em up!" I shoutrd back. Only seconds later, my three best friends were in my room. There's Milo, Beck and Sierra. God, this is gonna be tough.

"Um so your probably guessing why I asked you all to come over this early." It's 10 in the morning on a Saturday. "Well, uh, my Mum and I are going to be moving to America." I said with a fake smile and a pathetic attempt at jazz hands.

Everyone's face dropped.  We sat in silence for a few moments.

"When?" my closest friend, Milo asked.

"Flights are on October 14th so roughly 5 months." I replied.

We chatted for a little while. I know I don't leave for a while but I felt like we'd be on a plane tomorrow. Time flies by when you have friends like these...

Five whole months have passed.

Days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months. Before I knew it, I was saying goodbye to my  mates.

"I'm gonna miss you guys so much." I cried as I got group hugged.

"It's not like we can't skype or anything," Beck said.

"Yeah, and you can always come visit in the summer!" Sierra added.

I agreed to both. I smiled at them one last time. I asked my mum to take a group photo of us. As soon as we were in the states, I knew I was going to get it printed. We soon had to say goodbye to one another. My heart hurt as I walked towards the airport doors.

Mum and I breezed through security without any issues. To be honest, I was a little nervous. I'd never been on a plane before. I Ignored my fears, what else could I do? I sighed. One thing I'm looking forward to in my 'new life' was the new school I was going to. I can't wait to meet some new people.

"Flight 7432 to the USA is boarding in ten minutes. Please make your way to gate 4."

A voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Well, that's our call. Are you ready, kiddo?" Mum said.

I nodded and smiled. "Ready as I'll ever be."

No ones pov:

Morgan and their mother, Cassandra, got on the flight without any problems. It took 8 hours to get from the U.K to Las Vegas airport. They had to drive another hour to get to get to their new neighbour hood. The house Cassandra had bought was a pretty, two story home. The upstairs had two bedrooms and a bathroom. Downstairs there was the kitchen, living room, dining room and lounge. And a basement. Morgan said they want the basement to be their room, Cass didn't see a problem with that.

Morgan moved one of the beds from the 'spare' room and brought it down to their new room. Whilst they were figuring out where to put things, Cassandra went to say hello to the neighbours. A lady named Stephanie opened the door.

Ten minutes later. Back in Morgan's point of view:

-

I had just finished putting my fairy lights above my bed when I heard someone come into my room.

"Hey, Morgan! The neighbours want to say hi!" My mum said.

"I'll be up now." I said. I walked into the living room. Sat on the couch was a woman and three young boys. They looked around my age.

"Steph, this is my child, Morgan." She introduced me to the woman. I smiled and said "It's nice too meet you!" Adding a polite smile at the end.

"It's nice to meet you too." Amy said. "These are my boys." She said looking at her sons.

"Hi I'm Sebastian," the tallest one said.

"Hello, my names Remington." The one with a Ramones t-shirt said.

"And my names Emerson," The shorter one said, "It's cool to meet you!" He said, smiling. I smiled back at him.

I told them I'd be in my room if they needed me. Emerson and Remington asked if they could come with me, I said of course.

We sat around in my bedroom. We all talked for a while and exchanged numbers. I suggested that we play a board game or something. We ended up playing Monopoly for one whole hour. But hey,

Time flies by when you're having fun!
