I studied the gremlin closely, unsure of what to make of his request. My initial shock and curiosity had dominated my emotions over the past several minutes, but all of the feelings regarding what happened over the last few weeks had started coming back. And they were growing.
My gaze of curiosity gradually turned into one of fury. "Do you have any idea what I have gone through in the past couple weeks?!" I hissed. The gremlin took an involuntary step back at the savagery in my voice. "You have caused me a lot of suffering! Moving my things when I need them, things disappearing, things I've never seen reappearing, and the eggs! Oh the egg; appearing everywhere, covering my room with their stench. And the nightmares were the worst!" The gremlin continued to shrink under my whispered tirade.
"The nightmares!" My tirade continued, "I thought I had nightmares before, but now I can't escape them!" My speech withered as recalled the nightmares.
"Please," the gremlin pleaded. "We have caused you harm yes, but none of what we caused was our intention. If this had gone according to plan, we would have never even seen you, let alone your country. We would have left before anyone had noticed we were even here."
"Please miss." The gremlin again pleaded, clasping his hands together as if offering a prayer, "My friends, my family are dying, will you help us?"
I contemplated his request. Though inwardly I was still loathing this creature's intrusion into my life, I knew my decision had already been made - I couldn't turn down someone in need.
"Yes, I'll help you." I replied. The gremlin sighed and looked like he was about to launch to offering a tornado of thanks. I hushed him before he got started "What do you need me to find?"
