Rewrite the Stars.

Hey guys, so one of my favorite songs lately had been "Rewrite the Stars" from the movie the greatest showman. Whenever I hear this song it instantly makes me think of Grant and Candice. So, this chapter is based on the song. All rights go to the movie. Hope you enjoy!

Grant POV

I just finished my last scene of the night. It is still early so I don't want to go home now. I wonder if Candice is doing anything tonight. I haven't really hung out with her in a while and I miss her. I mean I see her everyday and kiss her sometimes but she has felt really distant the past two seasons. Maybe we can reconnect tonight. I call Candice.

"Hey, Grant, what's up?"

"Umm, so I have no plans tonight and I wanted to see if you wanted to go to dinner or something?"

"Uh, sure."

"Great! I'll see you at our favorite pizza place at 6."

"Alright, see you then. Bye."

And then I hung up. She sounded distant like I forced her into going. I feel bad but maybe it's just some awkward tension since we haven't talked in a while. I hope tonight goes well.

It is 6 and I am sitting at a table by the window. I see Candice walk in the door and she looks nervous. I call her over. I stop and stare at her before giving her a hug. 

She laughs, "Whatcha looking at?"

"Huh? Oh, nothing. I just really missed you."

"Yeah, same here."

We eat our pizza and then decide to walk to the gazebo by the water to look at the city. While we walk, our hands brush up against each other, fighting the need to be held. I think she likes me, the way I have liked her for so long. We had a thing going a few years back, but she ended things because it got complicated. She thought that because of who she was and the reputation that she had, being together would only ruin my career.  But I miss her more than anything. We walk to the rail and just stare at the city in silence for a few seconds.

I finally talk, " You know I want youIt's not a secret I try to hide I know you want me, So don't keep saying our hands are tied. You claim it's not in the cards, fate is pulling you miles away and out of reach from me. But you're here in my heart, so who can stop me if I decide that you're my destiny? What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine. Nothing could keep us apart, you'd be the one I was meant to find. It's up to you, and it's up to me. No one can say what we get to be. So why don't we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours tonight."

She is quiet for a second. A tear drips from her eyes.

"You think it's easy. You think I don't want to run to you, but there are mountains and there are doors that we can't walkthrough. I know you're wondering why because we're able to be Just you and me within these walls. But when we go outside, you're going to wake up and see that it was hopeless after all. No one can rewrite the stars. How can you say you'll be mine? Everything keeps us apart and I'm not the one you were meant to find. It's not up to you. It's not up to me when everyone tells us what we can be. How can we rewrite the stars? Say that the world can be ours tonight."

I grab her hand and spin her around.

" All I want is to fly with you. All I want is to fall with you. So just give me all of you."

"It feels impossible."

"It's not impossible."

"Is it impossible?"

"Say that it's possible."

She nods and smiles. She jumps into my arms and I swing her around. I let her go and we are nose to nose.

"How do we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine? Nothing could keep us apart, 'cause you are the one I was meant to find. It's up to you and its up to me. No one can say what we get to be and why don't we rewrite the stars? Changing the world to be ours."

She pushes her lips against mine and I pull her close to my body. She pulls away and tears start to stream down her face.

"You know I want you. It's not a secret I try to hide. But I can't have you, we're bound to break and my hands are tied."

She lets go and runs away. I yell.

"Candice! Please don't leave..." 

I whisper, "I love you."
