Callum wakes up from his quick nap. The sun is rising and they're both still asleep. Callum gets up to finds some possible food in the pharmacy. After a while he finds some protein bars, wafer bars, and some mint gum. He knows that gum isn't food but it helps to keep him from eating, and let's him save more food for Ezran. He finds the door to the back of the pharmacy. It's locked so he goes back, to find Rayla waking up, "Good morning. Sleep well?" He asked l, now in a more serious tone and stance from yesterday. "Yeah I guess. So you actually stayed up all night?" Rayla asked kinda intimidated by Callum, "No, I took a nap for like a hour or so. I found the door to the storage part of the pharmacy. More meds and stronger antibiotics." He said walking back. "Cool, hey do you know about the symptoms and if there is a cure? I was living at my uncle's house and then this started. They didn't have a tv or internet, so we didn't get any info on the infection and everything." Callum kinda felt bad for her, but he tried to keep his serious tone. "Oh, ok well the main symptoms are being extremely tired when your awake, being unable to sleep at all, fever, and the last symptom is losing the ability to move. This is the longest symptom. There is a cure but it can't be made right now or mass produced. Only one was ever made and it was for the daughter of the scientist who was leading the entire process of making it. The cure is made from a very rare source, Immunes. They're blood can fight off the disease easily. If you have their blood, you can get a cure." Rayla frowned and sighed, "So I'm probably screwed. There is no cure unless we find a immune to give me their blood..... I just have to accept it now don't I..." Callum looked back at her,"....Maybe not... The first cure was made in Katall. If we actually find a Immune who was a relative of the first guy, we could find a cure. And our dad was a pretty powerful politician, he would have documents of the lab the cure was made in since society was still a thing at the time. We could find the notes on the first cure and find a way to make a new one." He scratched his arm, a habit he did when he was a bit uncomfortable. Rayla brightened up, "You are going to help me? Why?? Why, after all that talk of not trusting me." Callum turned to a more emotionless tone, "I watched as our mother turned into a deadit. Ez was too young to remember it. I was 7. I don't want to leave someone to just turn. If I can I'm going to help." Rayla, being filled with joy and hope, hugs Callum, "(whisper yelling) THANK YOU!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!" Callum was surprised by her strength and her quickness to hug him. "And you asked why I decided to help someone I didn't know. Why are you hugging a almost complete stranger." Rayla backed off, realizing what she was doing, " Oh sorry, I was just so happy." Callum smiled at Raylas embarrassment, "Don't worry I understand, so you hungry?" "Yeah I kinda am."Callum hands her a protein bar before putting a piece of gum in his mouth. " It's not alot but we do have to ration the food." Rayla smiled,"I understand Callum.... Thank you"
They eat for a while and talk. Ezran wakes up and Callum hands him a protein bar. After eating they loot the building and get into the storage room. They find some soda, water, energy drinks, Painkillers, antibiotics, and some car keys. "You do know how to drive right Callum? Didn't dad teach you?" Callum thought for a quick second, "Yeah but is the gas still good?" "It better be, cause Im not wasting time."
They go out and find the car. It's a truck with 3 seats in the front. "I call the window seat!" Ezran rushes to the seat. Rayla and Callum have a small laugh before Callum stops, realizing he was starting to get too comfortable. "He still has a childhood in this world. That's good,... That's good." Rayla says, thinking about her childhood. Rayla gets in the middle seat and looks in the back. The trunk had a shotgun, a hunting rifle, and a few knives. Callum covers the trunk with a old tarp that was in it and loads their little amount of supplies in it before getting in the driver seat and driving off to down town towards their dad's office, with a few mishaps before remembering how to drive properly.
