1 month later.
"Friday, open up the last case!" I demand.
Fury let me install Friday into the lab as long as I promised not to have her do anything else, but what he doesn't know can't hurt him. The picture pops up on the screen as well as a very pointed remark from Friday about my tone. I examine the picture. It is of a recent murder involving some sort of technological invention. There trying to see if I can ID the weapon or ID the killer (both of which have no leads). The weapons was obviously used to get someone's eye, as the man's eye is completely gone. Which means the murder needed to get passed an eye scanner. I quickly pull up the semantics of several rich buildings in city boarders, to figure out which building have eye scanners. If I figure out what company this guy works for I might be able to ID him. From there I could see if this guy has any enemies and then figure out what weapons said enemies have access to. My fingers fly across the keyboard. I quickly separate the buildings with eye scanners and the ones that don't. It takes some time but soon I have it narrowed down to one building and one guy. Even though facial ID is hard with one eye I still got a match.
"Ok George Yannah, what enemies do you have?" I say pulling up his profile.
Immediately, I find several convictions and run ins with the press. This guy has been put on trial for 2 counts of property damage and 1 count of disorderly conduct. He also punched more than a few reporters in the face and broke their cameras as well. He has a daughter that was put into foster care and has also gotten his house searched several times. I let out a whistle, this guy has certainly gotten around. I look more deeply at his file and it says he was hired as a security guard at Ryland Labs. I roll my eyes, this is such a cut and dry murder. Clearly, someone wanted whatever Ryland Labs was producing so they decided to take it.
A few hours later.
I hand the file to Coulson which should give him enough information in order to get a search warrant. The file also contains two guys he should interview that could be possible killers. I walk back to my lab and run my hands through my hair. Considering how many calls I have been getting from SI it will not be fun when I get back. I sigh, pushing the door open to my lab. I walk over to my desk to clean up the multitude of papers that are crowding the workspace. This week has been awful. Not only is SI pressuring me to get a new CEO, I also have a big proposal to get ready for and to present soon. First of all, getting a new CEO would mean Pepper is gone forever and second of all the proposal is going to need months and months of meetings that I am not prepared for. I sigh again picking up all the papers and shoving them into the bottom draw of the desk. I straighten up and just take a moment to stand there. To calm my firing mind. I take in a few deep breaths and take in the silence of the room, except the room is not silent. There is a very faint sound of breathing in the corner of my room. I stiffen, but don't turn around just yet. I shift my body to have my back facing the intruder and activate both of my wrist gauntlets. Then in one quick motion, I spin around and point them both at the intruder, my face hardening into anger.
"Move into the light!" I demand keeping every muscle tense in case the intruder tries to jump me.
"Now!" I demand again after a minute.
I watch as the figure takes a step sideways but lets out a pained gasp. Then his leg gives out on him and he falls on the floor, wincing. He takes in a pained breath in between his teeth and turns his eyes on me. I am too shocked to say anything else. It's Loki Odinson. I let my arms fall to my side but don't relax my muscles just yet. His green eyes are watching my every move, even the slightest twitch of my hand he picks up on. His eyes are not the most unsettling thing about him tho, it's the face that he is dripping blood. The blood is coming from the multiple cuts on his face and cuts on his arms; his white shirt is stained deep red, almost black on one side.
