I arrive back on Earth crouching and in the middle of an alley. When the colors have cleared from my vision I notice two guys with their mouths gaping open. I get up from my crouch and nod to the two stunned men and make my way into the street, which is just as dark as the alleyway. I check my watch, 10:39. What!? I spent a whole day with Loki and I didn't notice? I think and then I think back to the events of the day. When I look back, I actually had a pretty good day after I got Loki to open up. So not only did I spend a whole day with him, I enjoyed it. What is happening?
"You idiot!" I mutter under my breath.
I might believe in those proclamations that I said at the house, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world isn't still out looking for blood. S.H.I.E.L.D. came out and said the Loki was brainwashed like one Bucky Barnes and the public believed him, but there is a thick line between belief and emotion. Even though the public might believe S.H.I.E.L.D. people still died and you can't undo those actions.
I shook those thoughts out of my head needing to put my priorities in order. Ok, first things first. Where the heck am I? I looked around for a street sign but didn't find any. So I found the next best thing, a gas station. I pulled open the door to the station and was greeted by a pretty red haired woman, chewing on pencil while writing in her notebook. I walked right up to the counter and waited until the woman looked up.
"Can I help you?" She asked, annoyed.
"Yeah, can you tell me where I am?" I asked, trying to come off as polite as possible.
She straightened and questioned, "You're Tony Stark and you don't know where you are?"
I shrugged, "Yeah."
She let out a giggle and simply said, "89th and 4th."
"S*it Loki!" I muttered.
Currently, I was 28 miles from my house.
The girl fixed me with a look, "Trouble in paradise?"
I let my gaze wander back to the girl and I let out a hard laugh, "Sure, although this one I would not consider a lover."
"So a friend?"
"Yeah."
The girl looked down letting her hair fall onto her notebook, "I have too many of those."
I caught onto what she was implying and quickly said, "Chin up, you'll find someone." The girl looked up at me with sorrowful eyes, "Sure they will kick your butt and drive you insane," The girl cracked a smile, "but everyone has a match." My gaze danced down to her notebook, "Besides you're smart."
The girl flushed and looked back down at her notebook, "It's just some chemical equations." She waved her hand, brushing it off.
Yeah, I wasn't having any of that, "Your trying to find the excesses moles of NaClOH while also trying to keep the balanced equation true."
They locked eyes for a moment before the girl grinned and said, "I guess you're right."
"Damn right I am."
The girl giggled and I smiled at the young girl, her reminding me of Loki. Then tires squealed outside and they both turned their attention to the door, where 5 agents with guns were getting out of a black car, a S.H.I.E.L.D. car to be exact.
I smiled at the girl, "That's my ride." The girl stared at me with a little amazement dazzling in her eyes. I grinned at her, "I suggest 3 by the way."
Then I turned on his heel and let myself get ushered into the car. I looked out the tinted windows and smiled once more when I saw the young girl writing furiously in her notebook with a smile, as the equation became solved before her. As the vehicle drove away my mind (against my will) started to make comparisons between her and the tricketer. They both had that determination, they both had that dazzle in their eyes when they saw something to their liking, they both were wickedly smart (although Loki more so than the girl), and they both wanted to be loved. Even though Loki has never admitted it there have been flashes across his face of unreadable emotions before, there has been careful touches or caresses, and there has been carefully crafted words. I have also seen so many emotions that he has locked away in fear of being refused, like Thor has probably done many times. Loki is a man of illusions this was probably another illusion, expect this one was guarding his heart. It only took a red haired girl, at a gas station, at 11 o'clock at night for him to figure out those emotions. I shook my head at the complete and utter irony of it. I have been studying this man for months with top of the line equipment and didn't figure that out, but leave me alone and 28 miles from my home and I figures out a vital part to Loki. Geesh, now all I wanted to do was to examine those feelings and the effect they had on myself, but I couldn't. Because I was being driven straight into the mouth of the tiger.
