The next day Tyler called me. I needed someone to talk to so I answered his call. "Hey. Do you have anything going on this afternoon?" He asked. "No. Why?" "We should go out to eat for lunch later. We haven't really went out for a while. I was thinking about the café down town but it's up to you." "No. That sounds great! Meet you there at 2:00?" "Sure but I'll pick you up." Tyler suggested. I agreed. It would be nice if he could drive me because like he said, we never get to talk or go out much anymore.

I hung up and went downstairs to eat breakfast. I was starving since I skipped dinner last night. That thought of last night made me depressed again. Even though me and Jake never dated, he became my best guys friends and we became closer. Well we were friends until the huge fight we had last night.

I poured a bowl of cereal and sat down to eat without saying a word. Everyone else must have gotten up earlier because they were all almost finished with their bowl of cereal.

My parents were exchanging looks. I was trying to read what they were saying but I just couldn't tell. Evie was at the opposite end of the table just staring at me as if tiring to see into my soul. I could tell she was upset that I 'blew her chance to behind friends with Jake' but I really didn't care. Well, not at the moment. I wasn't in the mood to explain who he really was and how mean he was.

My mom gave me a worried look and said "Kaylee, me and your father are worried about you. You came storming in yesterday after Jake dropped you off. You never came down for dinner and you seem a little depressed this morning. Can we ask what happened? We thought you and Jake were good friends." "Nothing happened really. We just got in a fight and you

probably won't be seeing him around much more anymore. " I said while trying to avoid eye contact so they wouldn't be able to tell that my eyes were getting puffy from holding back tears.

I really want in the mood to talk about this. I already felt bad for ditching Tyler, Stella, and Maddie to hang out with Jake. I've been friends with them for years and only knew Jake for a couple months and I was choosing him over them?

"Alright. Are you sure you're okay honey? If you need to talk about some-" "Mom, I'm fine. Trust me." I lied. "Plus me and Tyler are going out for lunch later today. He's coming by to pick me up." My mom just smiled and looked at her plate then my dad and her plate again.

I finished my cereal and put my bowl in the sink and walked down the hall to the living room and turned on the T.V. Of course it was the news and it mentioned Jake. I was about to turn the channel when a picture of me and Jake running in the parking lot of the movie theaters from yesterday. I started to freak out at first but then realized you couldn't tell that it was me. In less you looked close enough. The news reporter said "We have Jake Carver here with us this morning to talk about this possible new girlfriend of his." Oh no. Jake could tell everyone that we were dating just to get back at me from the fight from last night since I couldn't thank him for standing up for me. I just hope Tyler isn't watching the news right now because I know Tyler would break up with me for sure.

"Hello Jake!" The girl said. "Hey Sarah! How you doing?" He replied as if nothing had ever happened yesterday. "Great! Though I do have a question for you that I'm sure everyone is dying to know the answers to."

"Go for it." He said. "Do you have a new girl in your life? I ask this because we have this picture of you and the mystery girl at the movies running to your car." Sarah(the show hostess) showed him the picture.

"Um." Jake said while studying it. "I was at the theaters watching a movie and people were crowding around talking and asking for autographs for a bunch of girls. I decided to leave when one girl was chasing me to my car so maybe the paparazzi shoot the picture while I was running and it looked like we were together. " Jake said.
