your gaze was fierce against hyunjin’s. your arms were crossed over your chest, cheeks reddening from the frustration and tears that had begun to prick at your eyes. it was such a silly thing to argue over, in fact, you knew a lot of people who would probably kill for a significant other who cared just as much as hyunjin; yet, there you were huffing and puffing over his attempt at protecting you. protecting you from what, though? that was exactly what had begun the argument in the first place—there was nothing that you needed protecting from, he had just been fussing over the smallest things as per usual, as though he thought you were but a helpless child (which you weren’t).

“you’re overreacting again!” you cried out, voice quite close to reaching its breaking point—you despised arguments.

hyunjin pulled a hand through his inky hair, which was still wet from the rain, and huffed at the situation he was caught in. unable to bear the silence any longer he walked away, leaving you dumbfounded at his unlikely actions.

by midnight, the guilt was almost too much to bear as you watched him silently curl up on the couch, struggling to get comfortable considering the fact that his legs were too long for the couch.

“listen,” you began, sitting down and toying with the hem of the knitted blanket that was draped over the couch’s arm. “i’m sorry i got angry, i know you’re just looking out for me,” you glanced up at him, taking note of the way his eyebrows were knitted in thought. “but i also hope you can see my side and why i got upset...” your cheeks burned under his gaze while you tried your best to monitor his emotions, the results soon coming back as inconclusive when his face remained stony cold.

“you were right, maybe i am a little overbearing, i’m sorry, i never wanted to upset you.” his hand moved to grip your thigh, his thumb drawing soothing circles over the exposed skin. taking a sip of the tea you had made him beforehand, he then looked back up to you, this time with a sweet smile on his face.
