The little city of Baylor. That's all that I learned in the few hours I've been here.

Yesterday had been like the first day of being somewhere new. Today, I'm a little more comfortable. I'm ready for whatever these people throw at me.

"Skyler! Time to wake up!"

Except that.

I groaned and pulled the pillow over my head. There's no way I want to get up right now. The only thing that could possibly drag me out of here was my horse or a fire. Those chances are pretty slim.

The door opened. No....

"Skyler. Honey, it's time to wake up. I've made breakfast for the whole team. And, your mother should be coming home today."

The mention of food caused a growl from my stomach. Groan. What team and why was she telling me like I cared? Like, were there people down there?

My mother. Ha. I haven't seen her in years. Why should I get pumped to wait a few more hours?

I heard her sigh and walk out, not closing the door. Her whisper was heard but not understood.

Another voice. A deeper one. One that I knew.

"Carter. No." I said as he laid on me.

"Skyler, come on." He said.

I rolled over and he rolled off of me. I snuggled into the blankets but I could feel him close to me. He sighed.

"Skyler, you have to understand. She's trying. She wants us here. Today, when we meet our mom, it might not be like that. But, June, she's not bad."

Groan. "And what does that have to do with me?"

He chuckled, "Be nice. Try too. Like, try to be a grand-daughter. I'm not saying go have a tea party but, I don't know, talk to her. That's all she wants."

I opened my eyes. I could tell Carter thought this over a lot.

I sighed and got up, cracking my back in the process.

"Fine. Let's go,"

"Wait!" Carter said before I could walk out the door. "Uh, change. "

I frowned. Sweatpants and a tank top. He caught on and scratched the back of his neck. He was embarrassed.

"There's -uh- guys down there."

I shook my head and walked into the bathroom. I quickly showered and brushed my teeth. I took the clothes I set in here yesterday, knowing I would need a shower. Shorts and a benefit horse t-shirt. I dryed my hair and let it go for now.

I walked down the stairs and put on my socks. The wood floors was something I would have to get used to.

"Look who decided to show up," Lana said with a fake smile.

Her teeth were perfect. But, I guess the devil looked perfect too.

Coincidence? I think not.

I sat down next to my brother. There were a lot of people actually. I mean the table was big enough but considering only Carter, Lana, and I were the only kids living here.

"Skyler, this is the team," Lynn started to explain, "This is Amy. This is Eden, our only barrel racer on the team. Then Jocelyn and Hannah, whom you might've met yesterday. Then, this is my son, Jacoby."

I looked up at them all. Jocelyn, Hannah, and my sister were the trio from hell. I wasn't sure about the other two. I haven't seen them around. Jacoby looked familiar for a moment before I remember the back of his head. The fast walker.
