I was like, two and a half or something. Our moms knew each other since 1998 or something like that. I'm surprised I remember this.
My mom told me I was going to meet someone new that day. I was a very social kid, so naturally I was excited to meet somebody new. I could kind of talk. You know, like say simple things. Enough to communicate. It was a toddler. My mom's coworker and friend had a sister with a boy two years older than me and one year older than her son. His name, well let's just call him Hades. And the coworker's son, let's call him, Apollo.
So my mom strapped me into the car seat and we went to her workplace. She set me down in her office and said, "He'll be here soon, okay kiddo? Please don't cause any trouble." I know you're probably like, 'What damage could you do?' I was a troublesome child, (and kinda still am) and I was very resourceful. I'd mark the walls, paint the floor and the furniture. The world was my canvas and I was the artist. But mom made it clear that today, there was to be no mischief. None, not even a bit. So I crawled over to her desk, took out some paper and pens, and kept my creativity contained to the paper. After a few minutes, she came back with two boys. One I recognized as Apollo, the other I didn't know. "You all be on your best behavior. Hades your in charge." The taller boy nodded. "Okay, Auntie."
I looked at the strange new person.
"Who you?" I asked. He turned to me. "Hi! My name is Hades. Nice meet you." He held out his hand and I took it. "You know Apollo?" I asked. "Yes. He my cuzin." That's why they looked like each other. He noticed I was sitting. "You can walk?" he asked. "Yes." He smiled. "Okay, follow me." He and Apollo got up and walked to the door. But then he turned around, "What's your name?"
"Persephone."
"What's your favorite color?"
"Blue."
"Okay. Do you want to ask me a question?"
"Do you like to read?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"It's boring."
"Noooo~"
"Reading is fun."
"Thank you Apollo."
The three of us actually had an argument. Granted it wasn't very sensible but my mom told me it was very funny to watch. A two and half year old, a three year old, and a four year old, arguing about why reading was fun. It was adorable
