"I promise you!" I giggle as Brett stares at me disbelievingly, "It's two eggs!"

"It's going to be too runny!" He retorts, staring down at the mixing bowl.

"Until we add the flour!" I lecture, rolling my eyes as he clings onto the egg box, "It'll be fine." I assure, "Why don't you trust me?"

"Maybe because you burned the pizza last night?"

"That's not fair! You distracted me!" I argue, watching as a smirk appears on his face, my face flushing slightly at the memory of us christening the new couch the evening before.

"There's no excuse." He replies before relenting, "Alright, two eggs. Here." He passes them to me, and I quickly crack the first on the edge of the bowl, letting it fall in.

"Thank you!" I say as I crack the second egg, the entire shell caving in on my hands and the egg falling out onto the counter, "Oh, damn it!"

"You really want me to trust you?" Brett snorts and I shoot him a scowl.

"Shut up and get the flour!" I order, attempting to pick the slimy egg up.

"Yes Ma'am!" Brett laughs, turning and walking to the cupboard as I finally manage to transfer the majority of the broken egg in, "Here you go." Brett places the flour beside me, him watching as I begin to mix the ingredients together.

"Do you have a cake pan?"

"A what?" He replies and I raise an eyebrow.

"Like a baking pan? So that we can put this in the oven?"

"Umm..."

"Oh my god!" I exclaim, stepping back in disbelief as I look up at him. There goes my lovely homemade cake. "How could we not think to check that?"

"I'm not sure, I didn't buy anything for the kitchen." Brett shrugs.

"Who did?"

"My Mom." He replies as I begin to search, eyes falling onto an entire cupboard filled with champagne flutes. Who even has that many friends?

"I can tell."

"Oh look!" Brett exclaims and I turn, grinning at the sight, "She did buy one after all!"

"Perfect." I say, him passing it to me in exchange for a kiss before we both get to work. Placing the mixture on the middle shelf in the oven I stand back, clapping my hands as he watches, clearly amused by my excitement.

"Now we wait!"

"I can think of some things to occupy us." Brett grins, his hand sliding around my waist and pulling my body flush against him. Such a perfect way to spend a rainy Wednesday afternoon...

"Brett!" I giggle, lightly shoving him away. I have more important things to figure out right now. "What should we decorate the cakes with?"

"What?" He furrows his eyebrows at me, not letting go of my waist, despite the slight distance between us.

"Like frosting or candy?"

"Huh? I don't know."

"You are so inexperienced." I roll my eyes.

"I'm sure that will change now that I'm with you!"

"I'm sure it will." I grin, reaching up and wrapping my arms around his neck, "Do you have any powdered sugar?"

"No."

"Any chocolate?"

"You ate the last bar last night." He smirks.
