|BROKEN SOUL|
The door creaked slightly. Andrew had his back turned on him, his shoulders slouched a bit, playing some sad tune.
“Drew...”
“Andrew…” He tried again when the first one heeded no response. This is really weird, he thought himself as an unsettling feeling twisted his gut. He approached Andrew carefully, putting his hand on his shoulder. Andrew’s fingers stopped moving on the piano, his back still on Nathaniel.
“What brings you here, Nathaniel? I am not up for sex so you can leave.” He said coldly, his voice unusually hoarse. Andrew stood up, and walks towards his comfy bed, staring at the unconsciously staring at the ceiling.
Nathaniel flinched at the brunet’s coldness. He thought Andrew wouldn’t talk to him in that way anymore as if he hated him. Despite the momentarily discouragement, he took a deep breath and answered, “I was worried.”
Andrew never responded, and instead Nathaniel’s hand off and continued playing as if the blonde wasn’t there at all. Nathaniel felt tears gathering in his eyes.
“Andrew, what is wrong? Please, talk to me! Andrew!” He grabbed his shoulders, forcing him to stop playing with his fingers. He’s just that. Staring at nowhere.
“Look at me, Andrew. Something is wrong, I can sense it.” He said gently.
“Leave.” Andrew finally looked at him, better said glared at him.
Nathaniel winced at the sudden coldness and his heart constricted from the pain. “Of course, I won’t leave you as miserable like that. If you can’t treat me as a friend, just tell me what exactly just happened. I’m all ears, please.” He pleaded once again.
“Leave, Nathaniel.” Andrew spat, as he raised from the bed, walking straight to the dirty kitchen. But he never gives up, he still followed where he went to. He needs to know what he’s up to. He was really worried.
“Why didn’t you come to school?” Nathaniel asked, persistent to get some answers. “Drew, you never missed school. Tell me, what happened?”
“You are really annoying. If you badly wanted to know why I stayed home because I am doing interviews for the new maid.”
“What? Where is Bridget?” Nathaniel asked him in confusion.
“She’s gone.” Andrew responded with an unusual glint in his eyes. He just sensed how badly hurt he was. He knows Andrew too well, he never cried in front of anyone. It wasn’t his type.
“What… what do you mean gone?” Nathaniel gulped hard, sensing the cause of Andrew’s strange behavior.
“She had a stroke… she’s dead.” Andrew said coldly, not even blinking, piercing Nathaniel with his deep green eyes.
“Andrew…” Nathaniel understood it finally. Andrew was hurting. In a quick motion, he hugged him tightly. The brunet tried to push him away but Nathaniel was too strong. Andrew was tense in his embrace, and Nathaniel could hear his mumble in his hair. “I don’t need a hug. I don’t care about her.”
“Drew, it’s alright. Let it out.” Nathaniel whispered to his ear, rubbing his back slightly.
“I don’t care.” Andrew whispered.
“I don’t care—” He choked the second time, his fists clenching Nathaniel’s jacket. Nathaniel heard a soft sob finally coming out of his throat. And then, it was as if a dam opened, Andrew sobbed softly on Nathaniel’s shoulder, his hands gripping his tightly, as if holding for a dear life.
