When it's finally 8 p.m. and the store is already empty, I gladly walk back to my locker. While Dave leaves from the back door I tell Clara my so-called ride is waiting for me at the front of the store.

She walks with me to the entrance and unlocks the door for me when a rushed man is standing in front of it.

"Sorry sir, we just closed," Clara says politely to the man and I look up at him.

My heart drops to my stomach as the man looks at me and then back at Clara.

"Oh come on, I'm a loyal customer and I would really appreciate it." He says and Clara shakes her head. "We really appreciate that but I'm afraid we're still closed." She says polite but the man becomes more aggressive now.

"So this is how you treat customers? I'm here to get coffee for my entire family. A wife, two children, and myself. That's a lot of money to turn down young lady." He says and it feels like I'm punched in the stomach.

"Gather?!" Someone then yells. I look up from the ground and can see that it's Zach. The man looks confused behind him and the three of us all look at Zach.

"Excuse me?" He asks confused at him and Zach looks at the man. "Not you, I don't fucking know you." He says disgusted and turns back to me. "Gather let's go, I don't have all day." He says with a hint of frustration in his voice. I look at Clara as the man looks confused at me. I avoid eye contact with him and give Clara my best smile.

"I'll see you tomorrow Clara," I say rushed and walk out of Starbucks. "See you tomorrow Davina." She says back and as I walk past the man he makes a soft gasp, but before he can do anything else I run towards the car and get in it.

Zach, who was leaning against it, also get's in and he speeds away. He doesn't question the interaction with the man and I let my head fall back on the leather seat.

I just met my fucking father for the first time in my life. How fucked up is that? I'm eighteen and I just met my father for the fucking first time.

When we get back to the apartment I let myself fall on the couch.

"Rough first day?" He asks and I shake my head. "No just tired." He sits next to me and looks at me.

"What kind of crime did your mother commit?" He asks and I look at him. "What? Why do you want to know that?" I ask him and he shrugs. "You know why I ended up in prison. It's nothing more than just curiosity." He says simple and I think for a moment before answering his question.

What do I have to lose? It wasn't my crime and I sort of disowned my mother anyway. I sigh and look outside the window.

"When my mom was pregnant with me she killed a robber one night. She was home alone and scared so she panicked and shot the guy. Nobody had ever expected that, not even my father. He was so shocked that he disowned his still unborn child. Nobody ever thought that Susanna Sith could ever kill a fucking person." I laugh, not out of humor but out of disgust.

Nobody stuck up for her or wanted to help. Not even my own damn father bothered to stick around. Instead, he left her and remarried.

"Wait your mother is Susanna Sith?" Zach looks at me with almost excitement in his eyes. ouch. He quickly recovers when he sees my reaction.

"No offense but her old apartment is like a playground for teenagers." He says and I gape at him. "What?! Why?!" I ask him horrified. "Well, obviously it's not true because you're here. But the rumor was that when your mother killed that guy her baby slipped out and died with the man as karma. The carpet there has the biggest bloodstain which makes it believable. Teenagers tell each other that it's haunted and the place gets visited every now and then. Especially when it's the spooky season of course." I look away from him and look outside again.
