We're driving in comfortable silence with the music in the background. Slowly, the world around starts to look like a bright city again.

I look outside, watching the lights pass us in a blur. Zach's hand is on my thigh, giving me a warm and safe feeling. This new year's eve will definitely be remembered. I look at Zach with a smile on my face. I never thought I'd be here a few months ago but here I am. In Zach Bryne's car after a make-out session under the stars.

If you told me this two months ago, I would've probably punched you in the face. It's almost a dream, but I've never felt more awake. I never felt more alive.

But as I once said before, I will now say it again. This is my life we're talking about. It had proven time and time again that it just doesn't allow me to take a break.

When Zach takes a look in his rearview mirror, he freezes for a second before looking back at the road. His hand that was on my thigh, he puts back on the steering wheel and his grip tightens until his knuckles are white. I frown in confusion.

"Zach, what's wrong?" I ask but he ignores me. "Zach, I'm not going to repeat myself. Answer me." I say more seriously and he side-eyes me before letting out a breath. "That car has been following us for the past thirty minutes." He exhales and I look back to see a black car behind us.

"Maybe he's just going the same way we're going." I reason but Zach shakes his head. "I just took 3 random turns and he's still following us."

"Zach, what are you saying? Why would anybody be following us?" He ignores my question again. "Zach?!" I can feel my heart racing and my mind fills with concern. What is about to happen?

"It doesn't matter! I just refused to work tonight, it's not a big deal." I roll my eyes. "Not a big deal? Then why the fuck is somebody following us?" Zach picks up speed until he's high above the speeding limit. When I look back at the car I can see him starting to speed up too.

"Zach," I say with more concern and he looks in his rearview mirror again. He curses under his breath and looks at the road. Anger in his eyes.

"Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to drop you off at our apartment. When I stop you immediately get the fuck out and you better run inside the second your feet hit the ground. Don't look back, just run." His voice is almost unrecognizable. He's furious.

I just nod weakly and unbuckle my seatbelt. We've been in the car for a long time now, it won't be long before we're at the apartment. When the blurry surroundings start to look familiar, I sit up straight, ready to run when needed.

When the car comes to a halt, I don't miss a beat. I run out of the car and behind me, I can hear Zach drive away. As I run inside of the lobby, I can see the security guard give me a questionable look. I slow down as I feel safer. When I look back outside I can see a man jump out of the black car that was chasing us. The car speeds away as the man comes towards my direction.

I take a few steps back. "Security," I say with a high-pitched, panicked voice. The guards' eyes fall on the man that is stalking towards the entree and he walks towards the door.

"I'm sorry sir, you're making one of our residents uncomfortable. Unless you live here, I'm going to ask you to leave." He says with a calm voice. The man makes eye contact with me before walking back until he's out of sight.

I let out a shaky breath and the guard turns to me. "Please don't ever let that guy in," I say while shaking my head. The guard just nods. "Do I have to call the police?" He asks and I shake my head again. "That won't be necessary. Thank you though." I say and then I turn to the elevator.
