One: The Pain

Have you ever closed your eyes, only to feel the desire of pain deep within your heart?

Inside, you consider it. A peaceful death; departing life as an angel who is returning home. One who is dying slowly already on the inside, the darkness spreading to your skin.

You have that awful pain in your chest, and you wonder why you were brought to this world in the first place. Because if you truly are as useless as you have been, why are you here?

Do you have a purpose?

These are the questions I ask myself everyday.

There are worse things; like looking into the eyes of your best friend and seeing the same queries and feelings. It happens when Naruto is at his lowest.

When his confidence is so utterly shot, he cannot bring himself to accept who he is and how others treat him.

That's why I try to keep an eye on him. Eagerly, I bring my hand to his door and knock quietly, looking over my shoulder for any looming danger.

"Naruto?" I call softly.

No answer.

He's probably eating ramen or training. With a sigh I leave his doorstep, turning to make sure no Kiba or Kiba-Fangirls were around.

And by 'fangirls', I mean the couple of younger academy students that follow Kiba around because he's the only older student who won't tell them to go away.

He likes to have them attack me, to keep his hands as clean as possible.

I put my hands in my jacket turn around to face the big bad street again. Icharaku's first. He might be there. I begin to walk down the footpath in the direction of the famous Ramen stand.

Until there are a gathering of footsteps behind me.

Great.

"Hey!" I hear that familiar voice yell, "Girls! It's the freak!"

Kiba Inuzuka, Yuki Tanjo, Sayuri Haruno and Arino Akimichi. 3 girls who were all one year younger and couldn't attract anyone except for a desperate guy like Kiba.

Yuki looks like your typical puberty disaster. Faced caked with pimples and so tall she could tower over Iruka Sensei.

Then there's Sayuri. Everyone says she likes girls. Not a bad thing at all, but she's creepy in the way that she has little presence and can therefore sneak up on you easily. She has a half-shaved head, piercings everywhere and wears long, baggy clothes.

Arino Akimichi; as in, Choji Akimichi's little sister. She's extremely large. As in three times the size of Choji. I find her to be the kindest, like she's there because the others are.

Despite all these traits, I don't have time to try to fight them off. Because, undoubtedly, they are going to attack me.

I break into a run. That's kind of hard when you're wearing a heavy jumper in summer, but with my ninja training I locate a dumpster in the alleyway.

I aim for it and jump, soaring through the air and landing on it, to vault myself up onto the roof. I land just as Yuki gets to the dumpster.

She has my ankle. Unable to get out of the grasp I trip. Dammit.

"Well done, Yuki," I hear Kiba say slyly. She giggles and tugs on my leg. I feel myself begin to slip backwards, so I grasp the roof but it's not enough with Kiba helping pull me down.

I grunt as I collapse on the top of the dumpster. I try to scramble away but Yuki holds my feet and Sayuri has my arms, pinning them down.

See? I am useless.
