Chapter 6: The woods

Adoras POV

I wake up to the sound of birds chirping happily nearby. I sit up slowly, still not completely awake. I smile and yawn as I remember the events of last night. I look to my side to see Catra peacefully sleeping, her brown curls covering a fraction of her face. I chuckle, as I walk over to her and push her hair behind her ear. She flinches, and makes a weird face. I'm not really sure what's happening- chû

'Omigosh she SNEEZED THAT WAS SO CU- ahem- that was a d o r a b l e' I giggle to myself, trying not to be loud, but c'mon that was hilarious. I was interrupted from my thoughts as I saw Catras eyes flutter open, her beautiful blue and yellow eyes shining. She sat up sleepily, rubbing her eyes.

"Morning"

"Mmm morning Adora" Catra yawned and got up. She stretched her muscles and flicked her tale. She went to the edge of the cave and looked out. "I'm gonna go find a creek or a river or something. Wanna come with?"

"Sure, but we should head back to Brightmoon pretty soon." I get up and follow Catra out of the cave. We walked until we found a small lake, the water clear as the sky. I could see koi fish swimming peacefully, that is, before Catra stepped into the lake, snatching a fish from the water. I laughed slid my shoes off. I stepped into the pond and cupped my hands, putting them into water. I'm really dehydrated, I don't really care how dirty this water might be. I bring my hands back up from the cold wetness that surrounded them, taking a drink from the water.

Catras POV

I watched Adora as took a bite out of the fis I just caught. I'll be honest, it's really disgusting, but then again nothing really appeals to my appetite anymore. I walk out of the lake and sit down on a patch of grass. Adora joins me and leans her head on my shoulder, making my face heat up.

—-time skip because I'm lazy 😔✋—-

We sat there for about three hours, just observing. It was dark, and honestly I was ready to go back. It was silent, but it was comfortable. I watched the fireflies that had appeared, they lit up the sky, and it was peaceful. I was about to get up, when I felt Adoras hand on mine.

She intertwined our fingers and held my hand tightly. I blushed and looked over a Adora, who had her eyes fixated on a dragonfly. I turned to Adora which startled her, seeing as we've been in the same position for a while. She looked at me, her eyes sparkling in the moonlight. I couldn't take it anymore.

I clutched Adoras shoulders with my shaking hands. I looked into her gorgeous eyes. God, those eyes. I eased my shoulders, I didn't realize how tense I had become. I lifted her chin with my index finger, making her face me.

I gently embraced her soft lips against mine. I could sense her surprise, but she easily returned the kiss. The kiss was full of passion, and I was loving it. I slowly broke the kiss and smiled at Adora. Adora smiled back at me, before kissing me again.

—-The next morning—-

Adoras POV

We decided that we should start making our way to Brightmoon. We're running extremely low on supplies, and medical care is desperately needed, even though neither me or Catra would admit it. We weren't sure what to expect when we got there, seeing as Catra was the former Force Captain of the Horde, and injured lots of the rebellions fighters. All I know is, we have to attempt at peace. I'll do everything in my power to keep Catra with me in Brightmoon. I just hope that Queen Angella will be forgiving.

My thoughts get interrupted when I hear a faint rustling behind me. I turn to see Catra, getting into another sleeping position, where her knees are against her chest and her arms are spread out in front of her.

'What an odd position to sleep in...'

I laugh and roll my eyes, nudging Catras shoulder in an attempt to wake her up. Catra chuckled and rolled over, her dandelion yellow and sky blue eyes looking tiredly at me. She then groaned, and shut her eyes again.

"Come onnnnn we have to get moving before sundown and you've been sleeping all dayyyyyy" (just imagine her making a '😩' face)

I heard another groan and Catra slowly sat up. She stretched, and pushed her brown hair behind her ears.

"Adora, you're stressing yourself out, don't think I didn't hear your incoherent mumbling"

I furrowed my eyebrows slightly. "Whatever, but we should get going, we're already gonna get there late."

Catras POV

Ok, so Adora has always been a neat freak that likes being on time, but why's she being so weird about it? I don't think I've ever once in my life heard her use the word 'whatever' unironically. I'll ask her about it later, since we probably should get going. I grab our small food supply and Adora grabs a water container she made, and of course her sword. With all of that, we started on our way to Brightmoon.

——Time Skip——

We had been walking for what felt like hours. My feet ached, and Adora hasn't spoken a word since we left. Was she mad at me? Did I do something? What did I-

"I'm not mad at you."

I flinched from the sudden sound. "W-What..?"

Adora chuckled. "I'm not the only one that mumbles."
I thought for a moment. "Then...why weren't you talking at all?"

Adoras face paled slightly. "I've just been thinking...Glimmer and Bow are probably already worried sick, and they'll be really angry when I tell them that I brought you...I just don't want anything bad to happen. After all, Brightmoon is the main piece of the rebellion, and you're a former Horde force captain.."

She sighed and kept walking, I hadn't even noticed that we'd stopped. I let out a sigh, I didn't mean to be causing Adora stress. I mean, now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense why Adora is so stressed. I came from the Horde, and we're just gonna walk into where the leader of the Rebellion is.

We're in for some serious issues...
