"You... You deported my mom?"

"Now, uh, this was for her own good--"

"YOU DEPORTED MY MOM?!" I shouted, taking a step towards Jole.

"I-It's not as bad as it sounds, really," Jole looked Jason's way, growling through clenched teeth, "Help me out here!"

"Hey, had you filled me in I would gladly help you." He shrugged, smirking a smug little smirk, "But since you deported her all alone--"

"Why--" I glanced at Jason, his amused look making me laugh out of confusion, "Why did he-- When did he--?" I couldn't get a question out without another popping into my head, "Just--"

"Amy... Can I speak?" Jole said as I had him pressed against a wall with my finger poking him in the chest, the clear anxiousness and fear on his face making an odd feeling of calm wash over me. I know this is a random thought but is this what being Batman feels like?

I crossed my arms and glared my scariest glare, "This better be good."

"I did not deport her... There was a problem with her residency so 'Tryon Industries', the place you told her you were-- what did you say you were doing here again?"

"Internship. Christian study group and internship."

"... Well, 'Tryon Industries' decided to help one of their most valued interns' parent by buying her mother a first-class ticket to her families home town in China." He paused, looking between me and Jason as if gauging my reaction. "We had her meet with the 'CEO' and he told her that you requested to stay in one of our finest rooms in the building so you can continue going to school while also getting top of the line care--"

"So, you lied?" I scoffed, "You lied for me, sent my mother out of the country without even telling me, and what, expect me to thank you?"

"We gave her a company credit card with no spending limit, booked her for a room in an amazing hotel and have someone picking her up for the airport, what's the big deal?" He laughed, clearly too nervous to leave his spot against the wall.

"What's the big deal? I didn't get to say goodbye! She's in another country and I might be dead tomorrow and you're asking what's the big deal?" I crossed my arms and took a deep breath, "You do realize that the last time I spoke to her, I was crying, correct?"

"Uh... Yeah?"

"Do you know why?"

"Um..." He looked at Jason and he shrugged, looking confused. "Not really, no."

"I was so scared that something would happen to us when Greed got here that I asked her 'what would you do if you were told that there was a bomb about to drop on New York?'... Do you know what she said? She said that if we were going to die, she wanted to die with me in her arms. She said that I was her little light." I took in a deep breath, looking at the ground. "And now, if I'm gone when she comes back..." My voice cracked as a surge of sadness rushed through my body. "Who will she have left?"
