Izuku POV

Where am I? It's cold and dark here, I don't like the dark. The dark is when bad things happen. I don't like this. But I don't want to go back. When I go back, he will be waiting for me. No wait a second. I hear a familiar voice. Shoto? And now that I think about it, wasn't I saved? Was it real? Oh god, it was real! All of the sudden, I open my eyes, quickly closing them, due to the brightness. Once my eyes adjust i look around and see I'm in a hospital room, hooked up to several machines. I try to sit up, but white-hot pain erupts across my back, making me cry out. The door opens in an instant and Dabi runs into the room, freezing when he sees me. "Shoto, he's awake!" He calls. Not even 3 seconds later Sho bursts into the room. "Izuku!" He exclaims, rushing to my side. He gently presses me back to the bed, apologizing when I hiss in pain as my back connects with the mattress. "I was so worried Izu, the doctors didn't know when you were going to wake up, and I couldn't do anything." Shoto sounds so helpless it makes my heart throb. Then I notice something he said. "What do you mean, they didnt know when I was going to wake up? How long was I unconscious?" Shoto looks at Dabi, silently asking for him to tell. "You were out for 2 and a half weeks Izuku." The scarred boy says, his eyes sad. My ears fill with the sounds of my heartbeat. "What happened to my.... father?" I manage to ask. This time Sho answers. "He's going to be on trial in about a month, but for now..." Shoto trails off, looking at the ground. "For now what, Sho? Where is he?" "He's out on bond. One of his buddies bailed him out." He words are almost inaudible but I hear it. I start to panic. He's going to find me. He's going to kill me for sure this time! Before I travel too far down that path, Dabi snaps his fingers in front of my face, effectively gaining my attention. "Don't worry, you're not going back to that house. You're going to stay at my house. We'll keep you safe." I look to Sho for confirmation and he nods. I let out a deep breath. "Okay." I say. I trust these two. Dabi goes to get my release papers while Sho stays by my side. As long as I'm with him, my father can't hurt me.

We reach Shoto's house as the sun starts to set. Dabi helps Sho take me up the stairs. After I'm situated on the couch, Dabi takes his leave. Wait, doesn't Shoto live with his father? When Sho comes back to the living room I voice my question. "Yeah, I was living with him, but while you were... unconscious, I decided it would be best if I got my own place, in hopes that you would agree to stay with me. That and I was sick of my father." I nod, not wanting to pry farther. He joins me on the the couch and we watch movies for a bit, some comedy, I don't really pay any attention. At around 6:00, Sho gets up to make dinner, but I rush after him. "I'll cook Shoto." He looks startled for a minute then tries to deter me. "Izu, your injured, you should be relaxi-" "Please Sho?" I plead. He makes the mistake of looking into my eyes and I can instantly see his will to fight me on this leave him. He reluctantly nods. "Okay, but if you start to hurt, tell me instantly, deal?" I nod eagerly and Shoto goes back to the living room. I make Katsudon, that's what I make the best, and call Sho back to the kitchen. "Here you go," I say and hand him a bowl for his food. He fills his bowl then sits down to eat. A minute passes then he looks at me. "Aren't you going to eat, Izuku?" I look up at him. Why would he ask that? Surely he knows that I can't eat what I want. He has to give me my rations. That's the rule. "I'm not aloud to fix my servings," I finally say, "I don't know what you think I deserve." He looks appalled by my words. Why? Did I say something wrong? "What do you mean, Izuku? Did he not let you eat what you want?" I look at him quizzically. "No, he says I'm too much of a disgusting pig to have the right to eat my fill. Isn't that how this works? Since he's no longer here, and this is your house..." I trail off as I notice the look of pure shock on Sho's face. "Izuku, how much does he usually let you eat? Get the bowl and fill it to where he normally does." I grab the extra bowl and put just enough in the bowl to cover the bottom. Sho looks appalled. "Tell me your joking, there's no way you could survive off of this!" When I stay silent, the look on his face goes from shock to dread. "Izu, lift your shirt please." I'm a bit surprised by his request but I do what is asked of me. I lift my shirt up over my head and place it on the counter. He looks at my waist in horror. Most of the bruises have healed, but the malnutrition has only gotten worse. My ribs are so prominent that you could trace them with a pen, and my waist is as thin as a toothpick. Sho quickly turns and grabs my bowl. He fills it about halfway full and hands it to me. "Here, eat as much of this as you can." I nod and sit down, slowly eating. I only manage a small portion before I start to feel sick. I look at Sho. "I'm sorry, I can't eat anymore." "Its alright, Izu." He assures me a d then takes me to the guest bedroom. "You can sleep in here. This is your room now." I smile at him. He is so kind. He leaves to go to his room, and as soon as he is gone, I go to the dresser. I had asked Dabi to run by my house before we got here, and had him get a bag I had under the bed. I look through the pockets until I find what I'm looking for. Ah, there it is. I close my hand around the small metal object. My father has told me several times, if ever I'm not with him in the evening, I must still get my punishment. He knows if I skip. I go to my adjoining bathroom and look at the razor in my hand. I slowly begin making cuts up and down both arms. I lose count after 15. I suddenly hear a knock on the bathroom door. "Izuku, are you alright?" Oh no. "Yeah, I'm fine!" My voice shakes. It's not believable. "Unlock the door, Izuku, or I swear I will break the door down." He says it calmly but I hear the concern. "No, i said I'm fine!" I start crying. He's going to be disappointed in me. He leaves, only to returna few moments later. I hear a key in the lock. He opens the door to see me in the corner, my arms against my chest, knees curled up, and crying. He rushes over and sees my arms. "Oh, Izu," he breathes out. He gently cleans my arms with some rubbing alcohol. It burns and I wince, to which he apologizes. After he wraps my arms with bandages, he Carrie's me to my bed and lays me down, settling beside me. I fall asleep in his arms.
