AS GIDEON was preparing to knock on the door, it had instead flown open.Ricky looked at her for a second and grabbed her hand pulling her away from the household.
"Woah, Ricky slow down."
Ricky stopped and let go of Gideon's hand and looked at her.
"Why are you crying?" Gideon asked.
Ricky looked around knowing that it was just him and Gideon.
"My mom came back."
"Oh!" She smiled, "Did she like Chicago?"
"Um, yeah, yeah. I guess she did."
"You don't sound so certain. Are you sure everything is okay?"
"What- what was it like when your mom left?"
Gideon raised her eyebrows, a bit taken aback by the question, "Uh, I don't know. She left when I was way young. Even if I do remember I suppressed the memory of it. Then my dad meets Mackenzie when I was in the eighth grade. Why do you ask?"
Ricky didn't say anything. Gideon sighed and looked at him.
"It's not easy. It's not going to take days or weeks to "get over it"."
Ricky looked at her and sighed.
"You can talk to my dad if you want."
"Yeah... thanks."
She sent him a small smile and held her hand out.
Ricky grabbed ahold of it, lacing their fingers.
Though she knew it wasn't a great time, her heart began to beat a little faster.
