As the applause echoed through the gym, Yvo's eyes widened in disbelief. There, standing at the edge of the crowd, was the girl from his dreams—her familiar features strikingly vivid against the backdrop of flashing lights and laughter. She seemed out of place yet utterly captivating, her gaze scanning the room as if searching for someone.

"Maya, do you see that girl?" Yvo murmured, his heart racing.

Maya followed his gaze and nodded, a frown creasing her brow. "Yeah, I do. She looks... familiar."

Before Yvo could respond, Brix Cater, his quiet yet insightful friend, stepped forward. His usual demeanor was serious, but there was a glint of curiosity in his eyes. Brix had always been the one to observe the subtleties of life, often speaking when it mattered most.

"Yvo," Brix said, his voice calm but firm. "You need to be honest with yourself about what you want."

Yvo turned to him, momentarily taken aback. "What do you mean?"

Brix glanced at Maya, then back at Yvo. "You've been talking about this dream girl, but now you have Maya right here. It's like you're standing at a crossroads. Are you going to chase the illusion, or will you take a chance on something real?"

The words hung in the air, heavy with meaning. Yvo felt a mix of gratitude and frustration. "It's not that simple, Brix. The dream girl feels like a part of me I can't just ignore."

Maya shifted slightly, her expression unreadable. "Maybe you need to figure out what that part really means," she said softly, echoing Brix's sentiment.

Yvo took a deep breath, the weight of their words settling in. Brix had always had a knack for cutting through the noise and getting to the heart of the matter. "You're right," Yvo said, his voice steadying. "But what if the dream girl is connected to Maya? What if they're both part of the same journey?"

Brix studied him, his brow furrowing in thought. "Sometimes, our dreams show us what we desire, but it's up to us to recognize what's in front of us. Don't let fear hold you back."

As the crowd erupted in cheers for the crowned Prom King and Queen, Yvo's gaze drifted back to the girl from his dreams. She stood still, almost ethereal, as if time had paused around her. It was a bittersweet feeling—one that made his heart ache with longing.

"Maya," Yvo said, turning to her. "What if I could have both? What if I could figure out how they fit together?"

"I think you need to choose," Maya replied, her voice steady. "You can't split your heart in two."

Yvo nodded, feeling the tension in the air. He didn't want to hurt Maya, but he also couldn't ignore the mysterious pull he felt toward the dream girl. The two sides of his heart clashed, leaving him unsure of what to do next.

"Hey, why don't we all grab some snacks?" Brix suggested, attempting to lighten the mood. "There's a food table inside. Maybe some popcorn will help you think."

Yvo chuckled, grateful for Brix's efforts to ease the tension. "Sounds good. Let's go."

As they walked back into the gym, Yvo couldn't shake the feeling that something significant was about to happen. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, but his mind was elsewhere. Maya walked beside him, her presence grounding yet confusing.

When they reached the food table, Yvo grabbed a cup of punch and leaned against the counter, glancing over at Brix. "What do you think I should do?" he asked, surprising himself with his vulnerability.

Brix took a moment to consider, his expression thoughtful. "Look at it this way: if you're meant to meet the dream girl, you will. But don't ignore the connections you're building here, especially with Maya. They both matter."

"Yeah, but how do I know which path to take?" Yvo's frustration bubbled to the surface.

"Trust your instincts," Brix said, his tone serious. "You know what feels right deep down. Just listen to your heart."

Suddenly, a ripple of excitement coursed through the crowd. Yvo turned to see the dream girl walking closer, her presence illuminating the room. His breath caught in his throat. Was this the moment he had been waiting for?

"Hey, I'll be right back," Yvo said, his heart pounding. He needed to know more about her, to understand this inexplicable connection.

As he made his way through the crowd, he felt a mix of excitement and dread. What if this encounter changed everything?

"Maya," he called back, feeling a pang of guilt. "I'll catch up with you in a minute!"

He approached the dream girl, who was now standing alone, gazing out at the dance floor. She turned, and their eyes met. In that instant, it felt as if the world had shifted, pulling them into a space that belonged solely to them.

"Hi," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Hi," she replied, a soft smile gracing her lips. "I've been watching you."

Yvo felt a rush of warmth at her words. "Really? I mean, why?"

"Because I feel like I know you," she said, her eyes searching his. "And I've been waiting for this moment."

As Yvo stood before her, everything else faded into the background. The dream girl wasn't just a figment of his imagination; she was here, in the flesh, and it felt like destiny was finally at hand.
