I tried to hold back my tears
While we were hugging each other
You were already crying
And falling apart
You thanked me for
Gently holding your heart

You told me
You loved me and that we
Are meant to be, but
When I had to go away
Knowing that we may
Never see each other again
Pain didn't break me
Instead it slowly
Turned me in trembling knees
In violently shaking lips

When I turned my back to you
Rain poured out of me
Throbbing wounds and headaches
From a red swollen face;
I was sobbing inside
Begging you to kiss me
One more time
But I knew you weren't going to
Because you are fragile
And I had to come to you in the first place

Instead of turning and saying I love you
I only whispered goodbye
Because love will mean some falling
And you are afraid of heights*
