"Third One's a Charm" Finale

Both Steve and Natasha traveled back to New York side by side but no words was spoken between the two of them.

Unlike the night before, it isn't noticeable that she had been crying. Keeping her eyes always on the window, she managed to successfully ignore Steve until she got to their apartment.

Without sparring her former fiance a glance, she took her bags and walked towards the building where she and Pepper shares apartment with.

"Nat, please wait."

She stopped and inhaled a deep breathe and turned to Steve with a stoic expression?

"Do you need anything?" She asked coldly.

Steve looked down and rubbed his nape while walking towards her. He stopped when he is only three feet away from her.

"I'm sorry, Nat. Please. Please forgive me. I admit that I have done wrong but please, Nat." He took both of her hands and brought it to his face. He's crying again.

"Please let me fix this. Please let me make it up to you." He sobbed.

Natasha's expression softened and sighed. She slowly pulled her hands out from Steve's hold and cupped his cheeks.

"Steve, please understand that you've caused me great pain. And I don't think I will ever get over it now. Maybe in the future I will but now? No." She said sadly.

"You will just grow bored on me again-"

"No. No. No. Please don't say that." He cried.

Natasha smiled sadly at him.

"Just please understand that I can't make choices right now. I'm hurt and I can't think properly. I don't want to make anymore decisions that I will regret."

She slowly leaned in and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek. Still holding back the tears that are threatening to fall.

"Go home and rest." She moved away from him and gave him one last smile before turning around and walked inside the building.

"Hey.."

She raised her head and saw Pepper sitting on their couch. She bit her lips and looked down again. Her tears are dangerously starting to fall.

Pepper saw and heard everything. She might not know what's the reason but she figured the two broke up and Steve was the one who is at fault.

Break ups are not new to her because she and Tony has an on and off relationship but this break up of her best friend and Steve is totally more heartbreaking than hers.

She stood up and embraced Natasha. She rubbed the younger girl's back.

"Just cry it, darling. I'm here."

Natasha hugged back and finally, her tears started falling. She cried in Pepper's arms for who knows how long and it was already night when she finally calmed down.

She told Pepper what happened and Pepper looked at her sympathetically.

"Oh, Natasha, I'm so sorry. You love Steve so much and it must be really hard for you right now. Looks like that respectable golden boy from college didn't escape from bullshits huh?" Natasha laughed half heartedly at Pepper's cuss.

"Yeah." She sniffed. "I guess so."

Pepper smiled lightly and wiped her best friend's tears.

"Come. Let's go to the mall and buy some junk foods and cringy romantic comedy movies. I wouldn't even think on bringing you to the bar. Let's just have fun just like in old times whenever we have sleepovers." Pepper said.
