"I mean come on Y/N!" Jennie's voice was laced with exasperation as you made your way across campus,
"He's tall, he's got abs for days, a stunning face and he makes me laugh."
The dreamy look on her face made your stomach clench in anger.
You and Jennie had been best friends since diaper days, no matter what happened you guys had always stuck together.
You had seen her blossom from an awkward little teen to the breathtaking woman she was today, it was inevitable that you were going to fall for the beauty one day.
It had happened in high school,
you had realized it when every time her hand grabbed yours your stomach filled with butterflies. Whenever she would lay on your bed next to you the feelings that swormed around your body weren't the ones a best friend should be experiencing.
But you could never confess that to her.
You did come out to Jennie of course.
It was junior year and you remember that day as if it were yesterday, the fear and anxiety, the tears shed by the both of you, her arms wrapping around your body,
Making you feel more accepted than ever before.
Since then your infatuation with Jennie had never faded, you had always stayed by her side, hearing her talk about the cute boy on the baseball team, or the other one from History class. Your heart hurting more everyday. "He's a Fratboy." Your annoyed words made Jennie stop abruptly, a furios expression in her eyes,
"He's my boyfriend, wether you like or not I couldn't care less."
Her tone was cold and calculated, the words slicing through you like a knife.
Jennie's whole body immediately screamed guilt as she noticed the hurt in your eyes,
her expression softened and her arms reached out to you.
"He's a privileged little piece of shit, the only reason he's at this damn College is because his Daddy has enough money to bribe his way anywhere and get his ignorant little boy out whatever trouble he gets into."
Your knuckles whitened around the books you were holding as you turned around making your way back to your dorm, "I thought you were better than this Jennie."It wasn't until a week later that you found yourself in front of the boy you hated with a burning passion.
You had heard rumors creeping around campus that made your blood boil, even when you hadn't spoken to your best friend in days.
"Tell me it's not true."
You had managed to corner him on his way back to the dorms grabbing the back of his designer shirt.
"I don't know what you're talking about Y/N" the smugness in his voice while he said your name made you want to scream as you pushed him roughly against the wall behind him, your anger at an all time high.
"This isn't high school anymore dumbass, so please tell me you aren't screwing my best friend for fifty fucking dollars." Your voice was trembling with anger as you took a step closer to the prick in front of you.
"I wish I could tell you that Y/N."
You couldn't even control yourself as your fist slammed against the side of his face, your knuckles burning at the contact.
Anger got the best of the prick as he pushed you, hard.
You were on the ground when he busted your lip with his fist; all you heard was shouting as someone dragged the bulky guy away from you.
Your head was spinning and the metallic taste of blood in your mouth made everything ten times worse. The last thing you saw was a bunch of guys pushing the idiot around like he was a doll before a pair of soft hands helped you off the ground and dragged you away from the entertaining scene.
Jennie.
Her hands were trembling as she delicately dabbed your lip with a soft cloth drowned in disinfectant, the burning sensation making your eyes water.Jennie hadn't said a word since the accident, she had dragged you to her dorm, sat you on her bed and took care of you.
Her soft fingers gently caressed your bruising knuckles. You had to say something,
"I'm sorry."
You were surprised when she shushed you as she brought your hand to her mouth, placing light kisses on your bruises, your face burning.
"I'm the one who should apologize Y/N, after all these years why didn't you tell me?"
Her voice trembled with emotion, for the first time in your life you couldn't read the indecipherable look in her eyes."Tell you what?"
You knew what was coming and it absolutely terrified you.
"That you're in love with me."
Your whole body froze in shock, then suddenly it felt like a weight had lifted off your shoulders. Tears streamed down your face, "I-I didn't... I couldn't..."
Jennie's face scrunched up as she wiped her thumbs across your cheeks, she hated to see you in pain, "Shhh... It's okay Y/N/N."
Her forehead pressed against yours, "I was so so blind. But today you made me see."
Your eyebrows raised in confused,
"See what?", her voice cracked with emotion as she answered,
"That I want you, only you."
Soft lips pressed lovingly against your own, the pain leaving your body as Jennie held you in her arms, never wanting to let go.
