I breathe the same air as you,
and yet it fills my lungs differently.

I know how to conserve every breath as I am drowned by the thrashing waves;
you gulp in the salty sea,
cursing god for his blasphemy.
iii.
You've never been underwater.
I've been drowned before.
iv.
I hope you know that it is not your fault that you were born into a world more privileged,
more welcoming than me, my dear.
Someone like you was surely a prophet in the past.
v.
Do not think you are above the crashing waves.
I have been beaten and bruised by men of your influence,
who have expectations higher than I could ever climb.
vi.
You were like that too,
once.
