Chapter 6-Part two-Ecstasy

Hailey's P.O.V

With the blood in my head still pounding from the kiss,I started towards my room to get my rucksack when abruptly my mother called me.I cursed under my breath as I turned around and portrayed a plastic smile.'Yes,mother dearest?'I asked politely as she beckoned me to sit on the couch.With the crabby glares she threw at me I began preparing for the worst.I braced myself as she spoke,'Darling,I have taught you many times the rules of the outside world.Everything is not fairy tales!So why did I see that boy holding you fragilely?Why did I see the look of love on each of your faces?Can't you get it?There is no prince in shining armour!And I seriously doubt if he has or owns a white horse!Do you think I am lying to you?Look at you God forsaken father!Has he ever come looking for you?EH?'I could not sufficiently hide the tears that were streaming down my face.I knew deep down that she was right.That's why I could not be like other teenagers.Because of the wound my father had left for me.Did Sam truly love me?Or was I the pitiful girl with no masculine figure?At that particular moment,my mother's arms wound around me as she said in sorrow,'I'm sorry Hail.Just be careful.I don't want you to get hurt.You mean alot to me.'

As fresh tears dominated my cheeks,I vowed it never to happen.

Sam would never hurt me.I solely trusted him.

Sam's P.O.V

My head throbbed.I felt something warm and gooey and knew I was bleeding.Shit,I cursed silently as I forced my eyes open.There only two inches from my face was Ruby.

'Argh!'I cursed again as I pushed myself away reflexively.That's when I noticed what she was wearing.An all too revealing bra and a thong.Everything was see-through.I gagged.'What in Christ's name are you doing here you f*cking sl*t?'I asked as I silently wished Hailey was there.

'Sam,you told me yourself that you missed me.I love you,Sam,'she crooned quietly as she touched my face wonderingly.

I slapped her hand away in disgust as I said,'Here's the info Ruby,I hate you.Now get out of my bed before I call the zoo,looks like they were paid alot to see a sl*tty bitch like you.'

She was visibly fuming as she spat,'You really should have said that.Now you'll pay,'

I waited anxiously until I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.There was an injection.My body burned and ached.'How is this possible?'I asked as my mouth filled with foam.

'Unlike you,Sam,I do my history.Alex was a great friend of mine.Its amazing how just a tiny vile of sedatives can get him asleep,get some of his blood to make you dead.So make the choice:Love and adore me or perish and die.'she whispered as she removed the syringe injecting in the blood as she did so.

I felt weak,my muscules aching;my body shutting down.If I was going to die,at least I would die with dignity and pride.So I suffered in silence.If she was not going to remove the blood,I knew what would happen next.I fought to stay in the present.

'Hailey,please come and help me,'I whispered as Ruby took a knife and prepared to lung it at me.

Hailey's P.O.V

'Hailey,would you please concentrate,'Marrietta whined as she pulled me out of my reverie.We were at the cabin sipping cocoa as a storm raged outside.'I really feel sleepy.Why don't we continue this hand tomorrow?'I asked as I stifled another yawn.'Just in the middle of you winning third time in row,sure.'She agreed as we both got up.We prepared tuna sandwiches for supper before she showed me to my room.'I'll be close if you need anything.'she said as she closed the door.I turned around and took a glimpse of the room.The rain did wonders for the smell of the wood.It smelt of musky odour.The room was furnished simply;a bed,and two bed posts.Yet it felt warm,comforting and friendly.I slumped on the bed fully clothed as I checked my cellphone.I hated phones.When my uncle had gone to India last year,he had purchased a phone for me. Just to be polite,I told all my friends and pretended to use it until he went back to Alaska.I put it on and in two seconds,there were two hundred missed calls,and one thousand messages.All of them dated two years ago.Sigh.I dialed Sam's phone number.It rang five times until I hung up my mother's words ringing in my head.I sighed and tried to replay the magical kiss Sam and I had shared.I continue replaying it in differen versions until it was far from the truth.It was just one kiss,right?Nothing more.Finally I fell asleep thinking about his warm arms holding me securely.

I was walking down a bright lane yet I did not feel safe.A figure was in the shadows retreating in what seemed like fear.As I heard a low shout,I ran.At the end of the lane,was Sam clutching his chest in what seemed like pain.'Hailey,help me please.'
