The moment Owen became aware, he knew something was wrong. He could hear faint a consistent beeping. His first thought was that it was his alarm, but it didn't sound right. The second thought that surfaced was Cana. He couldn't feel her, either the heat of her body next to his, or that other way that had formed and always told him what she was feeling.

When he shifted to adjust, he heard someone say his name. He frowned as he realized it was his mother's voice. He then registered that the clothes he was wearing felt strange. The bed and pillow below his head also felt strange. The acknowledgement of these things made his eyes shoot open with a start. What the hell had happened?

When his eyes opened, he was stunned into silence. He took in the white room and the familiar instruments that made up a hospital room. The consistent beeping also then registered as a sound that was almost universally recognized and affiliated with a hospital, his heart monitor. His mind was then slow to realize that he was the one laying in the hospital bed and both his mother and father were hovering close by with worried looks on their faces.

"What?" Was all he could manage as his mind tried to work out how he had ended up here. Where was Cana?

"It's okay, honey." His moms voice immediately said and his eyes sought her out instantly.

He had her brown hair, but not her hazel eyes. His eyes came from his dad as his sought out his fathers behind her. He also had a worried look on his face as he hovered behind her.

"You were sick, but your fine now." His mother soothed as she reached for him and touched his face gently, as if ensuring herself that was truly alright.

"They say it was some kind of virus that you got from the wolves in the park." Virus? The one that Cana had. But how?

As soon as the words left his mouth, making love to Cana flashed through his mind and he closed his eyes for a moment in understanding. He knew it had been a possibility, but he hadn't cared and even now, it was worth it in his mind. Where had she gone? A quick look around the room ensured him that she wasn't there.

" Mom, was there a wolfdog at my place?" The question threw her off, but she shook her head, and he held in a curse at the gesture. He would never forgive himself if something happened to her while he was in here.

" There's a man here that demanded to talk to you as soon as you woke. He said he's a friend. He said his name was Christian." His mother said and he snorted. Of course, he is. Now they would play twenty questions again and he still wouldn't get any answers out of Owen.

" It's alright mom. He's a friend and was helping me with some research. That's why he wants to talk to me so bad." Owen quickly lied and it surprised him how good he was getting at it. He wasn't sure how he felt about that.

" Okay honey, but we will be outside when you're done." She said and reluctantly left.

His dad gave his shoulder a comforting squeeze before he to, left. Before the door could even close, Christian came in. He had a rushed air about him, but almost a nervous one, making agitation rise inside Owen. Did he do something? Find her out?

" Where is the wolfdog?" Owen immediately asked him. He had to know she was safe or being here was going to be torture until he could find her and ensure himself, she was alright.

" Don't get made at me." He said and that sentence almost made Owen jump out of bed and run to him. That sentence was never followed by something good.

" I yelled at her to try and get her out of the room when I realized what was wrong with you. I must have yelled to loud though, because she bolted out the door and I can't find her." He said in misery, shooting Owen an apologetic look. He wouldn't have startled her. It must have been what he said that had done it.
