The Unexpected Explosion: Part IV

ANNABETH'S POV>>>>

It was chaotic, to say the least. There isn't anything to describe the worst, though.

That's how horrific it was.

I still couldn't grasp that Percy of all people could-would willingly lead this, cursed or not. Well, if I didn't get a move on, I'd either be a sitting duck or a shish-kebab. 'Snap out of it Annabeth!' I scolded myself. I dashed into the battle, and started fighting with all I had. Slash, cut, duck, roll, stab, repeat. And then of course some other tactics. Like taunting them. "Hey ugly! Over here!" I called to a Lastrygonian. It turned and snarled at my comment, then started to charge towards me.

I stood my ground and when it was in range, I stabbed it in the chest, and it disentegrated.
"Nice. One down, a million more to go." I thought bitterly.

"Stupid Chimera." I mumbled. I had been locked in combat with it for maybe 13, 14, 15 minutes and all I'd done was scratch it. I hadn't tried shape-shifting yet because it drained too much energy, but I was running out of options. I barely dodged its snake tail biting me, and knew I had to take action now.

Immediately, I turned into a phoenix.

Ms. chimera stopped her assult for a moment to stare, and I swooped in on her eyes (the lion ones) pecking at them. I flew backwards as it started slashing out half-blindly, because it still its snake eyes. I turned myself back into...well myself and waited for a chance to get at its heart. It was still slashing and all and hopefully I could keep dodging its hots until- there it is! My chance! I sprinted forward and stabbed where it's heart would be, and it FINALLY turned to dust.

The earthling-troll-thingy was starting to get really annoying. On the other hand, the camp was starting to full up with dust rather than monsters. Some smart monsters had retreated and the ones that were either brave or stupid (I say the latter) were still here and dying at that. However, this one in particular kept dodging my attacks, and it was irking me. Then, there was a weird bird-like, yet also baby-crying sound that sounded and then all the remaining monsters retreated, including mister stubborn here. There was a deathly silence before everyone began shouting over each other. I heard things like "What in Hades just happened?!" and "Why'd they retreat like that? Seems like a trick." Then there was crying over dead campers, people screaming for help for an injured person or if they were hurt. I started panicking thinking "where is everyone? Are they hurt? Are they okay?", and began looking for them. I found Annabeth and Leo trying to carry someone into the infirmary. I rushed over to help and almost had a panic attack when I saw Jason was who they were carrying, and he had a hole in his shin, his side and his arm, but no blood. Without me asking, Leo said, "We don't know what happened to him." I said nothing to that and grabbed his other leg and helped carry him to the infirmary. When we got there, we found it packed to the brim. Will (Solace) saw us and told us to lay him on the floor on top of the blanket he gave us. There was a little space on the wall and Annabeth spread the blanket and Leo and I laid him down as gently as we could. " Now what?" wondered Annabeth. "I don't know. Well just have to wait and see who else we can find, then go from there." I replied. This was gonna take a while to fix and get things running smoothly again.

Also, I wondered in the back of my mind "What happened to Percy?"
