Candies and Clovers

Chapter three

A very short but very eventful chapter! This is the worst lots of triggers and big event please read with caution.

  I felt numb like my entire world had a curtain pulled over it. School felt like it dragged on for hours when I first heard the news. Dead. That word shook my entire life.

D as in don't question it

E as in empty the way I felt down to my very core

A as in alone the way she must have felt

D as in don't scream the last thing she ever heard...

My head ran around in circles for days. I stayed in school but nobody else did Alex and Lilac both stayed home. Everyone at school looked at me like I was a freak. Lonely freak in the halls.

I didn't do my makeup or even wear my normal outfits. I took out my piercings and tied my hair back every day. I felt so alone and empty than before I knew it was time for her funeral. Her body dressed up the nicest before they shoved her into the ground. Laying there with her green hair and over her shoulders and her overalls strapped tightly onto her slender figure.

I sat in the back and they asked me to come up and say a few words. My throat felt dry and my skin felt like it was melting right off my bones.

I slowly walked up there tears stinging my eyes wearing a black dress with a green belt around my waist and the black boots she let me borrow just a week before. I couldn't believe she was gone.

The story everyone knew was she snuck out to go see a boy and got caught by someone not so friendly and then Clover was gone.

I knew it wasn't a true story. She wouldn't tell me she loved me then sneak out to see a boy behind my back in the dead of night. That's not something she'd do and I know it.

Tom and Rick, we're up at the front tears from days ago drawing lines on their faces. Their eyes were puffy and red wet lines from fresh tears looked like they traced their faces.

The priest backed up and let me stand on the podium over Clover's dead body. I swallowed hard trying not to scream or say something I didn't mean.

"My name is Candy" I felt the words come out before I could stop them "Clover was my girlfriend, The love of my entire life. I knew both Tom and Rick since middle school Clover I met in elementary" My throat started to get dry just talking about her "I loved her and this wasn't her fault she wouldn't leave the house that late unless she was forced" I was almost shouting as I felt my eyes sting and a hand over my arm I looked down and it was Tom. I stepped down and he hugged me as I sobbed into his chest.

Tom and Rick drove me home. The car was silent the entire time so quiet I could hear my ears ringing. Once we got to the driveway Tom turned around and looked at me "You stay safe Candy" I nodded and closed the door walking up to my driveway.

I ran up to my room the second I got inside
