Remus was laughing, he simply couldn't help himself.

"Why are you laughing at me?" Sirius whined.

"It only just occurred to you," Remus laughed some more, "that no one was piloting while we were down here?"

"Well, I was a bit preoccupied." Sirius retorted, Remus laughed again and threw Sirius' trunks to him.

"There is a windvane that keeps her on track. Comes in handy, when, you know..."

Sirius felt a surge of jealousy bubble up inside him. "I don't know actually," he quipped.

"Sirius," Remus began carefully, "I've only just met you, you can't possibly be jealous of men I've been with in the past."

Sirius scrunched his nose like the thought made him sick.

"Put your trunks on," Remus instructed, "I'll be on the deck when you're done being in a mood." Remus then left Sirius to pout on his own.

Remus loved lounging on the upper deck. The sun, the salt, and the sound of the waves lapping at the side of the slow moving boat was relaxing. It was a much welcomed break from the craziness of the island.

As he laid there, sun bathing, he couldn't help himself from thinking about Sirius; the stranger who Remus couldn't imagine this summer without- he'd seen him at his lowest moment, and now one of his highest. They shared such a raw vulnerability. Remus felt entirely satisfied. He loved everything about what they just experienced. It was wholesome and equal. And, given the fact that they had only know each other for a little over a week, surprisingly full of love and respect. They communicated and sought permission and assurances. It was true and raw love making. Exactly how Remus imagined it while still exceeding every thing he anticipated.

He heard the padding of footsteps approaching him, so he sat up.

"Sorry," Sirius muttered as he sat down next to Remus.

"For what?"

"Being jealous." There was a long pause where they quite frankly just looked at each other. "Remus, I know you're not 'mine' and even if you were, it's not like I can magically erase your history. I just- I don't know."

Remus chuckled a bit. "Sirius, that was amazing," he rolled his head over and rested it on Sirius' shoulder. "You were amazing."

"You were amazing."

"Fine we were amazing. But it was even more than that. I told you that I thought about what it would be like when we slept together."

Sirius nodded.

"I could have never imagined it to be that good. Nothing so far has ever been that good." Remus felt Sirius press his lips to the top of his head. Remus felt so safe with Sirius. That, Remus was sure, was part of why he desired time with Sirius so much, there was something undeniably safe about him.

"I wish I never had to leave."

"Sirius," Remus now shifted to face him, "I wish I had something better to tell you, but I don't. I understand where you're at. Don't worry about hurting me, okay. Just spending any time with you at all makes everything worth it. I just, feel so whole when I'm with you. And I will not let the fact that this isn't forever take that away from me."

"So you're okay with me just leaving you empty?"

"I was empty before I met you, Sirius. I'll be okay."

Sirius frowned, he didn't like that Remus wasn't full of confidence, but he knew that no one was entitled to tell anyone else how to feel.
