I automatically turned to the blasted door. Alezzander walked in with that usual dangerous air around him. He's holding a guard's sword in his right hand but another sword is still sheathed on his side. Behind him is a man who looks older than him. He's slightly taller than Alezzander and more bulky. He's face is devoid of any emotions. Capsules of explosives are attached on his belt and a big double-edged sword is sheathed on his back.
"What are you doing here?" I gaped at him.
He turned to me and slightly cocked his head. "You don't look like a damsel in distress," he commented.
"Sorry to disappoint you," I mocked.
He raised an eyebrow and looked at me from head to toe. I suddenly felt self-conscious. My face turned red when his eyes stayed at the torn part of my dress.
Darn! I want to cover myself but I'm holding a sword and my hands are tied.
The side of his lips twitched. I saw his eyes burned in anger as his gaze went back to the duke. I gasped when he suddenly threw his sword at the duke. The sword nailed at the wall behind the duke, barely missing his head.
The duke's face turned pale as she started shaking in fear. He immediately pulled one guard and hid behind him.
I clenched my teeth in anger. How dare him use his slave as a shield?!
"You touched her," Alezzander's said with a cold voice. "How dare you touch her?"
"W... what is it to you? She's just a commoner. I can do anything I want..." the duke defended.
"I am not a slave you stupid!" I scowled at the duke.
"The town of Selah is again a land free of slaves. It has been for seven years now. Everyone knows that," Alezzander picked another sword lying in front of him.
The Duke's face grew pale. "I did not hunt at the town. Basically, I did not violate a treaty—,"
"The town is its people," Alezzander walked towards him. "You tried to take what is not yours."
I frowned. I don't get where this conversation is coming from—or where it's going. What the heck are they talking about?
"So what?! I will not let you get out of here alive," the duke scowled. He turned to his guards. "Kill them!"
The guards ran down the stairs to attack Alezzander who is already half way the lobby. Alezzander stopped and raised his sword. The man behind him unsheathed the sword from his back. The guards came all at once but Alezzander easily blocked their swords. Some guards also attacked the man behind him but they cannot win against his big sword. The clashing of swords filled the lobby.
The duke turned to the guards surrounding me. "Help them!" he ordered.
The guards nodded before leaving me.
I gasped. They're too many!
"Hey!" I blocked the last guard and attacked with my sword. He blocked it and countered. I leaned to my right to dodge it. He attacked again but this time I blocked it with my sword. He pushed the sword forward and I clenched my teeth as I try to push back. Darn! I'm losing.
I stepped to my side and tilted my sword. The guard's sword slid forward while I pulled my sword away. Using the width of sword, I hit the base of his head. He fell forward to the ground. That won't kill him but it's enough to knock him unconscious.
I turned to Alezzander to help but he just knocked the last guard.
Not bad.
He glanced at me before turning to the Duke. The Duke's face literally turned white now. Beads of sweat are forming on his forehead and his while body is shaking in fear, his mouth as wide as his eyes. The duke snapped out of his daze when he realized Alezzander is already walking towards him. He immediately ran up the stairs.
Alezzander threw the sword and it hit the wall right infront of the duke's nose.
I gasped. That was close. I know the duke is a douchebag but I still don't want Alezzander to kill him.
I turned back to Aezzander who is already near me. He suddenly threw me his coat before going up the stairs. The duke leaned on the wall as he watched Alezzander walk up to him.
"You should know your enemy before you even dare pick a fight. Isn't that common sense?" Alezzander reached for the sword and pulled it out of the wall.
The duke's eyes widened when Alezzander raised the sword. My mouth opened but no voice came out. I turned to the man with him but he's just watching them.
He's not joking. He's really going to kill him?
I should stop him right? I should say something.
"Please don't kill me," the duke suddenly kneeled and hugged Alezzander's leg. "I won't do this again... just don't kill me. Please."
I grimaced. What a coward.
"Don't you have dignity?" Allezander kicked the duke who immediately fell down the stairs. He raised the sword downwards to stab the duke.
"Alezzander!" I finally found my voice.
The sword stopped midway.
Alezzander turned to me with a frown.
"Stop it already," I said.
"Tsk. Fine," he put down sword and walked down the stairs leaving the duke crawling there.
I sighed in relief but I gasped when the duke stood with a knife in hand. That was my knife!
"Alezzander!" I shrieked.
In an instant Alezzander turned and cut off the duke's arm. I gasped as the duke's arm rolled down the stairs followed by the flow of blood.
"Ah!!!" the duke wailed as he fell again on the floor. His face is contorted with pain but his eyes are filled with anger and pride. "How dare you!" he scowled. "You have no authority over me! I am the duke of Adaya. I am the first born of the first mistress of Darwin Farisha! Who do you think you are?!"
Alezzander raised the tip of the sword at the duke's throat.
"The house has found you guilty and so, I, Alezzander Roque Castillan, sentence you to die,"
The duke and I gasped at the same time. I covered my mouth with my hands while the duke immediately bowed his head.
"I... I am sorry my lord," the duke said. "Please don't kill me."
"I won't. Not that I don't want to," the bloody sword clanged on the ground when Alezzander threw it. He turned his back and walked down the stairs.
His eyes landed on me but I just looked down. He stopped in front of me. I still didn't look up.
He grabbed the sword from my hands and carefully untied my hands. "You alright?" he asked as he gently massaged the rope marks on my wrists. I did not answer. "You're supposed to put that on," he grabbed his coat from my hand and put it around my shoulders. He buttoned the first two buttons to make sure my front is covered. "Come on." He held my hand and grabbed me out, still dumbfounded.
