He is comfortably sitting in front of my table, a teacup on hand—my teacup. His hair is shaved into a clean cut, revealing the soft features of his face. He is wearing a blue coat which looks like some kind of a uniform. He looks exactly like Alezzander, a younger version.
"Good morning," he greeted with a wide smile like we've known each other for a long time now.
I just stared at him—unsure of how to respond.
"Hey Eon," Alezzander came down from the ladder. He is now wearing a long sleeved shirt as he woke past her. He walked towards the opposite chair and held its backrest.
"Good morning Alezzander," Eon greeted. "I helped myself with a cup of tea," he turned to me. "I hope you don't mind."
I cleared my throat to compose myself. "Alright, I know you two look alike but mind introducing yourself?"
"Oh sorry," Eon said.
"This is my brother," Alezzander said. "Leonel Dayag Castillan."
"Eon for short," Eon added before sipping his cup of tea.
"Hi I'm Giselle, the owner of the teacup," I mocked.
I don't know if this is some kind of a family trait but how could they start barging in someone else's house as if it was their own.
"Oh," he glanced at the teacup. "It's cute."
My jaw literally dropped. Same arrogance.
"So what brought you here?" Alezzander asked.
"You weren't at the castle," Eon answered. "I heard you're busy with a girl," he turned to me and smiled.
"No, he's not," I said flatly.
"I'm still working on that," Alezzander said. "Let's talk outside," he headed for the door.
"Thanks for the tea," Eon placed the teacup on the table before standing up. "See you in the City of Abram, Giselle," he smiled before following Alezzander out of the door.
I can't help but roll my eyes. I walked to door and watched them walk away. They're definitely brothers. Alezzander is the serious type. He is oozing with authority. But Eon's aura is lighter. I noticed he smiles easily too.
I saw Alezzander frown. I wonder what it is that they're talking about. They obviously didn't want me to hear it. The side of my lips twitched. Whatever!
My head turned when I heard a bell approaching the house. I frowned when I saw our mailman riding his bicycle. I seldom receive mails. Orders from the House of Ad'l Un are sent to me directly by servants. I remained standing as I watch the mailman pedal his way towards me.
"Good morning Giselle," he greeted as he stopped in front of me.
"Good morning," I smiled.
He pulled out an envelope from his mailbag and handed it to me. "Here's your mail,"
"Thank you,"
I waited for the mailman to leave before I went back inside the house. I opened the envelope and frowned when I saw The Elder's seal on the letter.
Giselle,
It has come to our attention that you are entertaining a foreigner suitor. We do not intend to interfere but we want to warn you about foreigners. You are not the first to accept foreigner suitors and it is a known fact that all of them didn't end well. Foreigners have a lot of secrets. They cannot be trusted. Do not be fooled.
If you intend to keep this suitor, we are asking you to present him before us.
From,
Elders of the Town of Selah
I bit my lower lip. Crap! Why does it have to come to this? I paced back and forth. I can't just present Alezzander to the Elders. He's not even my real suitor for goodness sake! Ugh. Nana Lena! I should have corrected her when I had the chance.
What if they kick him out of town? What if they find out he's a royalty? I have to keep Alezzander away from them.
I froze. I must be going nuts. I don't need to protect Alezzander. Besides, the Elders are just worried about me. Ladies from our town are being fooled by foreigners, most of them left pregnant without a husband to fend for them. The Elders are somewhat right. Alezzander has a lot of secrets and I know for a fact that I don't fully trust him. But still, I can't just bring Alezzander to them. I stared at the letter. Maybe I don't need to, not yet.
I immediately slid the letter on my waistband behind me when I heard footsteps coming in. I turned to face the door just as Alezzander appeared on the door.
"I'm sorry about Eon," he apologized as he entered. I just stared back at him, still a little startled. He frowned. "Are you alright?"
"Y... Yeah," I cleared my throat. "Of course I am. I'll just prepare breakfast," I was about to walk past him, making sure to hide the letter behind me, when he held the doorframe to block me. "What?!" I snapped at him.
He raised an eyebrow before leaning in on me. I held my breath when his face came closer to mine.
"You can always ask me if you really want a kiss," he whispered.
I gasped. The nerve!
"How dare you?!" I pulled all my strength and pushed him by the chest.
He just chuckled before raising the letter in hand. "So what is this?"
"Hey!" On instinct, I reached for the letter, which he managed to snatch from my waistband, but he just raised it away from reach. "That's mine!"
"Then why do you have to hide it from me," he said in a casual tone as he continued reading it.
I gave up trying to reach for the letter so I just crossed my arms and glared at him. "Can you at least give me some privacy?!"
"But it involves me," Alezzander folded the letter back, his face turned serious.
"It's a misunderstanding," I fibbed. "You don't have to worry. I'll take care of it," He allowed me to easily snatch the letter from him.
"No, you're not," he said that made me frown at him. "Let's prepare breakfast. We have a meeting to attend."
"No!" I scowled.
He opened his mouth to protest but stopped midway. He took a deep breath probably to calm himself.
"Please Alezzander. I'll take care of this," I pleaded.
"Alright," he said in resignation. "I'm leaving this afternoon and I'll probably be back tomorrow. I'll give you until then."
"You're leaving?" I frowned. "Where are you going?"
A grin broke into Alezzander's face. "Clingy eh?"
I groaned in protest. "You can just say if you don't want to tell me," I pushed him away from the door so I could walk out.
"Come on Giselle,"
He followed me to the dirty kitchen while chuckling. I busied myself by starting to prepare our breakfast. He stopped at the door and crossed his arms.
"I'm going back to the City of Abram," he finally answered. I turned to him, expecting some more explanation. "I need to attend to some... matters."
I nodded. "Okay." I sensed he didn't want to tell me about it and I shouldn't ask like a nagging wife... right?
