By the time you get back to your dorm, the warmth from their house had long faded. Not physical warmth... but emotional warmth. The echoing of their laughter still bounced in your head. It had been quite a long time since you'd been in such a welcoming environment. Jae-su's dinner had been close, but the feeling of tightness and trust was wound so tightly in the Bangtan house... you don't think anything could've come as close. Even your own family had not felt like that.

At times, their larger than life personalities had made you feel like a stranger: watching from outside of a window in. It had felt bittersweet.

Even though you knew there was no danger in them touching you, bodily instincts had kept you flinching away and avoiding contact with them– unintentionally, of course. You had always used your inability to touch others as an excuse for your alienation... for your reclusiveness.

It had taken this night to realise that that was all just because of you.

It's not your fault. The melodic voice of Jungkook tickled in the back of your mind for a moment, and you squashed it down with the tendrils of anger that had sprouted in response to that.

What did he know? He had always had Bangtan.

The Sacramento green door swung open, Jae-su holding her wallet and phone in her hands. She was clearly going on a late night snack run to the nearest convenience store. The abruptness of her entrance snapped you out of your thoughts.

"Oh! Y/N!" She exclaimed, shocked, "how was your dinn- wait, come inside, it's freezing. Why were you just standing out here?"

It was a bit embarrassing to say that you were lost in your thoughts. You settled for- "uh... couldn't find my keys." A bashful smile accompanying your faked sheepish words.

Jae-su rolled her eyes and stepped back inside, a good-natured smile teasing on her face, "airhead."

You stepped back into the door, feeling the warm heated dorm room wash over your night-air induced bone chill. But the physical warmth did not compare to the Bangtan House's. Even with Jae-su by your side, you felt so hopelessly... lonely.

"I'm gonna go on a snack run, so sit tight." Jae-su tossed at you, stepping back out the door again.

"Wait-" you called out, the question from earlier falling out of your lips. You couldn't let this chance go. What if you forgot again? "Jae-su, is Solmi-ssi dating Jung Hoseok-ssi?"

Jae-su paused at that, her hand on the brass handle. "Jung Hoseok-ssi? As in Hoseok from Bangtan Sonyeondan that you were apparently just eating dinner with?"

You nodded in response.

"Where the fuck did you get that idea from, Y/N?" She laughed, hand reaching up to cover her mouth as her head tipped back. "I mean, they share a class together, but dating? Damn, the fans really are just shipping anyone nowadays, I guess." Jae-su rolled her eyes, a chiding tone following her next words. "Seriously, Y/N-ah. You need to stop believing all the gossip you hear from their fanpage."

What the fuck? Did you imagine that? You definitely didn't. Because how else did you meet Hoseok-ssi? Why else had he been at that dinner?

"But... but the dinner..." your voice sounded weak.

Jae-su cocked her head to the side, brows furrowing. "What dinner?"

"The dinner we had with your friends! Lucas-ssi, Jennie-ssi, Lisa-ssi and Solmi-ssi."

Her eyes flickered with recognition. "Yeah. What about that dinner?"

"Hoseok-ssi... was there."
