There's a sense of assurity in Jae-su's voice. You found yourself believing her words.

The gothic senior ran a hand through her dark hair, exasperation on her face. You knitted your brows, ready to tug your sleeved arm out of her iron grip, biting your lip with doubt. Jae-su reluctantly let go of your arm, hopelessness written all over her expression. There was a sense of confidence in Jae-su that made it difficult for you to doubt her, no matter how nice Min Yoongi was. Maybe it was your subconscious internal reaction to males, and your subconscious trust of females fortified by your relationship with Jae-su. You'd had enough run-ins with guys to know that not all of them were like all they seemed.

And it wasn't like she was wrong. You didn't know Min Yoongi. But... he did know your secret and he hadn't reacted with... aversion...

Your eyes flitted around to the strangers around the street, tensed with the idea of attracting unnecessary attention. The phantom image of Yoongi's back fading away and slipping into the crowd on the sidewalk pulsed in the corner of your eye. You blinked and it was gone.

"Y/N, I just don't want you to end up like...." she hesitated, as if there was something she couldn't say. There was a specific name perched on the tip of her tongue, but there was something preventing her from saying anything.

You turned to see if Yoongi had really left– he had– and that left your chest feeling achingly empty for some reason. Even though he was at best a friend and at worst an acquaintance.

That nagging thought that he was just amusing you would never be able to fully disperse, and at this moment it had flared up. He had been really angry but if you were really friends... wouldn't he have tried to stay and listen and see what your opinion was.

At this moment, Jae-su seemed to clear her thoughts, straightening.

"Okay, didn't you have to fix your phone?"

The event was dismissed without another mention. Jae-su mentioned nothing of the angry, near violent, way she had treated Min Yoongi's presence around you. Nor had you prodded. You were too worried-

Of what?

What were you so worried about?

Worried about there really being an unspeakable secret about Min Yoongi? So terrible that Jae-su hadn't even wanted to mention?

At the uncomfortable hastily mended atmosphere between Jae-su and you, your thoughts continued to escalate. Jae-su was about to mention a name. I just don't want you to end up like... like who? She hadn't sounded like she was lying. But Yoongi didn't even seem to have known her. Then there was also the matter of Hoseok and Jae-su.

The secret behind your fatal Midas Touch had just managed to unbury itself, but ever since coming to college more and more problems had piled up. Secrets about identity, the truth. You didn't know who anyone was.

Did you even know who you were?

You had the feeling of wanting to cry, building in the centre of your chest. Right between your two ribs and wedged slightly above your sternum.

Besides, why were you so concerned about it whether or not Min Yoongi actually had something to hide? It wasn't your business. And it wasn't like your relationship with Min Yoongi was actually that deep. It was just your lack of proper friends and social activity growing up, making you think that you were... that you were friends. You desperately wanted to be back in your dream, nestled in a warm embrace and soft detergent scented ivory sheets.
