"I told you, you can't be friends with- with those males!"
Pennywise was lecturing Zoe as she sat on my bed glumly, looking at her knees.
I couldn't step in, as my phone had rung yet again to say that Charlie was pulling through but they were watching her.
It was weird, apparently, how she recovered from an aneurysm of all things.
I was yet to meet the baby too.
Meanwhile, Zoe was on the verge of tears, not looking at her dad once.
I said goodbye to Harry and ended the call, placing the phone on my bedside table.
"Penny." I turned to him, placing a hand on his arm. He looked at me with dark orange eyes. "She's just a child."
"So were the others." He spat, to which I gasped.
"Penny! Seriously? She's your daughter. She's bound to get up to mischief." I directed the conversation away from his past, and Zoe tilted her head.
"Hm." He turned away from her, beckoning me to follow.
"What?" I whispered.
"I might be able to erase her memories of my...normal side. And pose as Bill for the rest of her life."
I gasped and looked at Zoe with wide eyes.
"You...could?"
He nodded and turned back to Zoe.
"You should leave the room, you can't see my deadlights."I nodded, not really sure what his deadlights were, and left the room.
I leaned against the door frame, listening to Zoe's words of awe until they disappeared into silence.
"You can come in now." Said a deeper voice, meaning that he'd turned into Bill again.
I leaned around the door frame, seeing Zoe fast asleep on the bed.
"I'll stay like this until she's old enough."
"Isn't this a bit extreme over a boy?" I asked, laying down next to her and stroking her hair out of her face.
"Of course." He scoffed, laying down on her other side.
We laid there for a bit, listening to Zoe's soft snores.
Then my phone rang again, and I groaned as I sat up and retrieved it.
It was Harry.
"Hey, (y/n). Just wanted to let you know that you can come and visit now. Doctor Daley need to see you anyway, he's asking for you."
"Okay, bro, I'll see you in ten." I hung up and looked down at Zoe.
"Can she come with?" I asked, looking back up to Pennywise hopefully.
He shook his head. "She'll be sleeping for a few hours. You can go by yourself. That Doctor will have found out what's...killing you.." he trailed off and looked away.
I budged up a bit and cupped his face with my hands, turning it back to me. I was surprised to see tears.
"Hey, it's okay. If the change thing isn't working then that's life, isn't it?"
"You don't understand, (y/n)." He shook his head. "You said it yourself. There needs to be balance in the universe for it to work. So where theres life, theres death. And were there's death, there's always death."
(Lol I got that from Men in Black 3)I'd never heard him speak so philosophical, or at least logical.
"I need to go." I said, dismissing what he said and pecking his lips.
