"Charlie."

She sighed and looked down at Polly lovingly.

"I'm fine." She finally muttered, but there was an underlying lie in the last word.

I wrapped an arm around her shoulders and hugged her tightly, and saw a few droplets fall on Pollys face.

"Dammit." Charlie wiped them away, her voice sounding tight. "I should be dead, (y/n)."

I looked up at her, her medium length brown hair cascading over her face like a waterfall.

I knew I should have said words of encouragement or reassurance but I couldn't find the right words.

"I know." I said under my breath.

She sniffed.

I realised that at that moment it was the perfect time to tell her about the whole she lives I die thing.

"Charlie there's something I have to tell you-"

I was cut off by the sound of the door opening and Doctor Daley coming in, smiling warmly.

We turned to look at him and Harry woke up with a jolt.

"Oh, sorry son. Didn't mean to wake you." He apologised to Harry who grumbled sleepily.

The doctor's eyes fell on me and he spoke again. "Ah, (y/n)... I need to speak to you."

I gulped, knowing what was coming. I was kinda scared. But mostly curious to what was killing me.

I slid off of the bed, giving Charlie one last squeeze. Then I followed Doctor Daley through the endless corridors and into this small checkup room.

It smelt like citrus.

He directed me to sit on the blue chair and I got onto it, my heart thumping in my ears.

He turned to some paperwork and muttered to himself.

I felt my wound on my wrist pang suddenly, and I looked down to see what was happening.

To my shock and horror, it had spilt open again and this time the blood was floating up into the air.

The doctor was bound to notice.

"By the way, (y/n), I forgot to ask." He started turning around.

I freaked out momentarily before grabbing the tissue paper that covered the chair and shoved the dots of blood in the air back onto my arm and covered it up.

"Yes!?" I turned a bit so he couldn't see me hiding my arm.

"When you were in labour you asked me where this 'Pennywise' was. I just wanted to know who he was."

I caught my breath. "Uhhh...I was a bit dazed...I don't know..."

He smiled. "I get it." Then his eyes fell onto my hidden arm.

"What's wrong?" I asked cheerily. Inside I was freaking out.

"(Y/n), I'm a doctor. Show me your arm."

I shook my head no.

He started to walk over to me, holding onto his paperwork.

"Let me see."

I kept shaking my head but he came over anyway and gently lifted my wrist up.

"I can help you."

I realised what he must think. It's on my wrist, its bleeding- he thought I'd self harmed!

He lifted the paper off of my wrist and looked down at the bite mark, the blood once again beginning to float upwards.

"Fascinating." He muttered, flicking one in the air.

I bit my lip. "Please dont make me explain."

"No need, dear. We checked your daughter's blood too."

I gaped. "You didn't say-"

He shook his head sadly. "And you didn't say whether or not you were seeing your child."

I giggled lightly and looked down.

"Anyway, you did come here for these...results..." he checked the results again.

"Hm?"

"(Y/n)...your body is going to shut down bit by bit. Your heart was working overtime while you were pregnant and hasn't been able to settle. It'll end up giving in. Your blood, however...I don't know about that."

I stayed staring at my fingers, nodding along to everything he said. He told me he couldn't prolong my life longer that my heart will intend, so in the end it will give in anyway.

He left me to stare at my fingers, my heart loudly thumping. Pennywise knew this whole time, I was sure. He'd even said he was blocking my thoughts out so he didn't.

I wasn't crying. I couldn't cry.

With a shaky sigh, I stood up and left the room, not caring if he came back and didnt see me there.

I bustled along the corridor, and just my luck, I came across the British receptionist from earlier.

"Oh, hi there." She called, filling a white plastic cup with water. "You ok love?"

I nodded and kept going ahead.

When I reached the parking lot another ambulance was waiting and I saw a woman being pulled out on a stretcher. She was sobbing and screaming.

I shook my head to get unbidden memories out and turned to run to the car.

And that's when I bumped into Beverly.
