"Yeah, that's what I said." The woman looked at me strangely and leaned over to Leo. "Does she have a habit of repeating everything you say?"
"Dancing!" I shouted out of the blue.
They both looked at me.
"What?" Leo asked, tilting his head.
"Uh...you asked what we should do?" I made the poor excuse but it seemed to fly by him.
"Oh! Dancing? Really?"
I nodded, a shaky smile on my face. "Yep.."
The woman narrowed her eyes but didn't say anything. I think she knew.
"Okay...I better go get my phone from home then!" Leo started walking backwards. "See ya in a few."
He ran off and I was left with the unnamed lady standing nearby.
"I'm Zoella." I said into the air.
"Vivica."
I raised my eyebrows and turned to her. "You wanna dance with us?"
"Me? Oh, no, I don't dance much...I'm fine with watching you and...loverboy."
"What are you insinuating? That we're dating or something?" I scoffed.
"No, but he's definitely got eyes for you. He wouldn't stop staring at you, and even when you did something completely random he went along with it."
"He's my friend."
She raised an eyebrow. "Does he know that?"
Leo skidded to a halt nearby and I looked at him, feeling my cheeks heat up as I thought about what Vivica just said.
"I got my phone and...hey, Zoe, have you got a fever or something?" Leo started walking over and I shielded my face with my hair.
"Hey, no no no, let me see.." I heard Vivica chuckle in the background.
He lifted my hair up and placed his cold hands on my cheeks, lifting my face up.
I smiled nervously, and was surprised to see his expression was one of shock.
"What?" I asked, scrunching my face up.
"Your..your eyes...they...they're glowing!"
I smiled genuinely. "Aw, thanks-"
"No, I mean literally. They are literally glowing orange!" He opened the camera app on his phone and showed me my face.
It was true, my irises were not the corn flower blue I was used to, but rather a glowing intense orange.
"Woah, that's frea- ARGH." I doubled over and clenched my stomach.
"What's happening?" Vivica asked.
"I'm.. so...so..." I struggled to form a sentence.
"You're what, Zoe? Tell me!" Leo asked in a hurried tone.
"I'm so hungry.. " I whispered in a weakened voice.
I blinked a few times, the lights brightening more than they should, and blacked out.
