Kakuza checked her map and compared it with where she was. She's here, she thought, as she looked around. She spotted the small seal placed at the base of a stack of boulders and approached it. Moving the grass aside, she read the seal and placed her hand on it, feeding it her chakra. With a rumble that shook the earth, the boulders opened and sunk into the ground, revealing an entrance to a warren of catacombs. With one last glance over her shoulder, Kakuza stepped in.

Following the twists and turns of the chambers, she got lost a few times but eventually found herself in a room with medical and scientific equipment. A tall slim woman and with long dark hair and pale purple skin stood next to a smaller woman with grey hair and glasses. "Kakuza~" The tall woman hissed. "Orochimari" Kakuza responded. Orochimari approached Kakuzua slowly, fixing her robes as she went, and ran a slim pale finger down Kakuza's jaw. "You're on time with your payment" she said. Wordlessly Kakuza handed the snake woman a stack of cash and she greedily counted the money. Nodding to herself that the full amount was there, she slipped the cash into her robes.

"You're managing to avoid Sasori and Deidara well" Kakuza said. "It's easy to fool the blonde. Sasori is harder to fool but our agreement still stands as long as you pay on time" Orochimari replied. Kakuza's fists clenched at being reminded of this unlikely partnership and she wished she could do without it but the personal stakes were too high. Seeing her inner conflict, Orochimari smiled and licked her lips, "What will you do when the truth finally comes out?" "I'll deal with that when, and if, it ever happens. As long as the seals are intact, I'm safe" and with that statement, Kakuza began to leave the chambers. "See you next month! I'll send word through Kabuta when we move" Orochimari said as she waved goodbye. Kakuza couldn't wait to get out of the stuffy corridors and back into the sunlight.

Sleepily, Ryuu stretched in bed and rolled over. He encountered a body and smiled, snuggling up to it and burying his face in the person's neck. "Hmmm you've switched shampoo's. I don't think floral is a good scent for you, Jo" he murmured while he wrapped an arm around the body. "...and boobs? Mmmmm...wait...boobs?!" Ryuu sat up in bed and looked down. A still sleeping Hida pressed herself against him, seeking his warmth. Shinjo's side of the bed was empty and he looked around the still darkened room, finally seeing him sitting calmly looking out the window. Before he could say anything, Shinjo spoke, "go back to sleep. We leave in a few hours." From the tone of his voice Ryuu knew he didn't want any questions so he just nodded and laid back down, wrapping an arm around Hida and closing his eyes.

Pein sighed and laced her fingers through Konan's hair, enjoying the man's attention to her core. Each lick and thrust of his tongue made her melt and forget the stresses of running the Akatsuki. She gently pulled her lover up and to her and kissed his lips, tasting herself on his. Her legs wrapped around his hips and he slid into her without effort, years of practice making them move as one. Placing the maps and intel reports back on her desk, Pein sighed as she looked at the borders of the Nations. They were unofficially at war with Kiri and by default, Suna and Konoha as well. Sasori and Deidara were out trying to locate Orochimari, Itachi and Kisame were in Kiri trying to gather intel, Kakuza and Hida should be coming back with the necessary funds and Tobi and Zetsuki were nowhere to be found.

She didn't have a plan for how they would win the war but remembered reading something about the Tailed Beasts. They would make great weapons aside from the inconvenience of their jinchurikis and didn't the new members have abilities over them? She made a mental note to talk to them when they came back to Ame and in the meantime, she pulled a report from Itachi to her and began reading while Konan prepared her tea.

"Finally!" Hida exclaimed as Ame came into view. It had taken several days for the small party to return to the Village and they were all sore, tired and sick of walking. "It's about time" Kakuza growled from where she stood lounging against the heavy metal gates that opened into the Village. "KAZA!" Hida yelled and ran to her and embraced her tightly, "I fucking missed you! Take me with you next time, bitch!" Ignoring Hida, Kakuza fixed her eyes on Shinjo who gave her a smile as he passed. She ignored this and glared at him but inside she was happy to see him. She took the scythe Ryuu handed her as he passed and turned to look at Hida. "Well?" She asked. "Nothing happened" Hida told her and she nodded slightly before leading her partner inside the Village and to the Akatsuki's tower.

"RYUU-KUN!" A voice screeched as a body pummelled into him. He hit the floor hard and was about to use a senbon upon his attacker until he heard, "Tobi missed you!" He relaxed and sighed, pushing the childish woman off of him and standing up. "Nice to see you too Tobi" he said while helping her up. "Tobi finished the book! Ryuu-kun reads naughty stuff!" She lightly scolded him. He chuckled before responding, "you read it too so Tobi reads naughty stuff as well," he said as he unsealed his room and stepped in.

He undid his weapons pouch and his robe, tossing both into a corner before sitting on his bed. His green eyes looked up and saw Tobi standing at his door. "Did you want to come in?" he asked politely. Tobi nodded and stepped into the room when Ryuu motioned that she could. She walked over to the stacks of books piled haphazardly on his desk and added the orange book to a pile. "There's a second one, 'Make Out Paradise', if that's what you're after" he said. "No," she replied, "Tobi wants something deeper."

He frowned when he realized her voice had changed. It wasn't its usual childish pitch and the tone was one of calm. Ryuu studied her as she ran a finger down the book's spines, her gloved hands finally pulling a book from the stack. He blushed a little at the book she had chosen and mentally berated himself for not hiding it.

Obita stroked the worn cover and pressed the tape holding the spine together. It's pages were sticking out at odd angles and it was evident that this book was old and well read. "May I borrow this?" She asked and slipped it into her robe when she heard his consent. She was going to ask him more questions but soft snoring alerted her that he wasn't going to answer them just yet. She left the room, closing the door softly so as to not wake him.
