The Obstacle Course

(Keith's P.O.V.)

I can faintly hear Allura blabbing on about something, but I'm really not listening. I can hear the others groan, but I'm the only one who doesn't. I realize I can hear my remotes cracking under the pressure I'm applying to them.

"Crap!" I mutter to myself, and release the controls that I'm breaking.

I hear Lance's voice come through the com. "You good, buddy?" I nod, then remember that he can't see me.

"Yeah. Fine." The lie is clear in my voice, but I don't even care anymore. I wonder to myself. Why does he care anyways? I follow the Blue Lion down to the planet, guessing the others are following.

Allura guides us to where the obstacle course starts, and begins timing us.

"GO!" She calls, and everybody is off, except for me. The screaming is getting louder and louder, until it's so loud my vision is going black and my ears are ringing. I lean forwards, and put my head in my hands. I'm quietly moaning in pain to myself, and mumbling. The pain is too much for me, and I'm getting dizzy in my seat. I feel like the world is spinning, even though I'm not moving.

(Lance's P.O.V.)

I can tell he's lying, but I might as well ignore it. He won't tell me, of all people, anyways. I'll question him later instead, when he's alone.

I realize that everyone else has followed Allura down to the planet below, and I take off after them. Why do I care, anyway? He's my rival.

We arrive at the obstacle course, and Allura begins timing us. Just like that I'm off, taking advantage of Red being so fast and maneuverable. I'm pretty sure Keith is right behind me, but I can't tell. I'm too focused on the obstacle course, and not crashing into any of the canyon walls. The canyon was narrow, with plenty of sudden twists and turns.

Suddenly, Allura yells, "Stop! Everyone! Stop your Lions and come back here!"

I come to an abrupt stop, confused, and turn around, immediately obeying Allura.

I re-do all of the twists and turns of the canyon, and end up passing up both Pidge and Hunk. I frown when I notice that Keith isn't anywhere on the course.

Finally, I come back out into the opening where Allura is waiting with... the Black Lion?

(Keith's P.O.V.)

At this point, I can't even tell, or remember where I am. It's just dizziness, and screaming, and blood. "I.. So... Can't.... M-make.... It s-stop." I'm murmuring to myself, until I realize I'm not actually murmuring. I'd say more like screaming.

"Make it stop!!!!" I'm screaming at the top of my lungs.

"PLEASE!" I can't control it. I'm just... Screaming. And I can't make it stop. I can't stop feeling the pain. The screaming is making its way into my mind, and it feels like fire making its mark in my mind.

And then, the screaming is all too much for me, and the blood and the fire gives way to blackness. I can still hear the screaming, but I know I'm silent and blackness clouds my vision.
