The shrink smiles like the grinch
She tells me that it's okay to be sad
She tells me that it's okay to let out all my feelings

At the same time,
It's not alright to not shave your legs
It's not alright to defend yourself

The shrink says to tell her how things are at home
She tells me that I can talk to her
She tells me that she can help me

At the same time,
When I tell her what's wrong,
She brushes it off
And tells me to tell her if I "actually get hit"

The shrink doesn't understand

At the same time,
No one can truly fix you on the inside

We glue the ripped paper pieces of our heart together
We hope that they will magically come together as one
We are ignorant to the fact that time is the best way to heal

We read things that relate to us so that we don't feel alone
We tell ourselves that next time, we will stand up for ourselves
We don't and we pay for it

The shrink is only trying to help
But don't force yourself to get help
If you are not ready for it
