Bratley

Ok, so I figured I would let all you fine readers know, that Bratley is actually based off a cat I used to have. Same name, same personality.  He would legitimately play fetch, his toy of choice being one of my many ponytails found lying about. He also seemed to get some enjoyment out of swishing things in the toilet. He was a very unique creature, and no cat I ever had compared to his odd mannerisms.

I remember I had these fairy wings from an old Halloween costume. Bratley thought it would be something that he could swish around, with ease. The poor cat tried so hard to push those wings into the toilet, it was hill-air-rious. He also loved putting his head through the handles of a grocery bag, making himself a cape. He would then run off, like super kitty. He also enjoyed sitting like a human.

Unfortunately,  He didn't live very long. I don't even think he was a year old when he passed. My mom and I started to notice, him not being his usual quirky self. He had no energy, was lethargic, it was very worrisome because we both really cared for him. My mom took him to the vet, and they had to put him down. I guess he had some sort of blockage in his intestine. It was really heartbreaking.  I had many cats growing up, many. None of them quite held a candle to my Bratley.

I think I was about 17, or 18 years old when I had the opportunity of his presence. I often find myself missing him still, and I am now thirty years old. I wish I knew how to save him, maybe the plastic bags being a toy for him were a bad idea after all.

I have fished some old photos, from social media. Wish I had more, or could find more.

R.I.P - you strange bundle of fur.
