(call) "Shirley! Are you there? Answer me Lily this is not a joke okay!"
What could she answer in such a shocking situation? She was just staring at the screen reassuring whether it were her parents or not, and she wished she could be wrong just once. With all might she hesitantly picked up the phone with her shivering hands and put it on her ear.
"H-hell-hello"
(call) "Shirley are you okay, is anything wrong with the flights or something?"
Shirley had no idea of what is supposed to be done at the moment. To answer the phone, to look forward of asking someone about the incident, nothing. She just panicked and took her baggage with her,
"I gotta go." She whispered and hung up the phone, running her way out through the crowd. It was devastating to actually believe something so unexpected. She sobbed and her breathing wasn't stable at all, bombarded in so many consequences she was not able to talk at all. She just cried and paced towards the straight boulevard that was there. She didn't bother to get a taxi as she still hasn't gotten in her senses. Her vision blurred with the amount of water that was streaming down from her eyes.
After almost walking a couple miles from the airport she reached the park near the library she visited the other day. She slowly stepped, cause her feet hurt so much that she couldn't even walk straight now. She sat there on a bench which was just beside a huge tree giving fair amount of shade. She just dropped her bags and put her hands on her face covering it just to make sure no was looking. She cried, a lot. It was traumatizing for her, never that she thought that this would happen.
It is past 7-ish now, and she didn't attend any calls that were incoming. The phone kept ringing but she didn't move at all from her place. Just bags on the grass and herself seated on the bench, no movement at all. The sky is shimmering with hues of grey, a little navy blue mixed with imbroglio. Shirley had her mom's platinum chain in her hand, held tight and looking towards the small water body which was reflecting the moon.
Just like some other day, she lost track of time to get home. But was it really home now? There was practically no one to return to. The feeling is not even something she would wish for her enemies to face. It was melancholy, not the tentative one but a scar in your heart that'll not heal soon. There was no one to share her happiness with, no one to take advice from. It's just herself broken and empty.
(Zayn's POV)
The club was about to close, so I just informed Max that I'd be leaving, he and Nora were still inside, we were practically discussing about the competition and passed time. I decided to let out a smoke on my way. So I flicked my pack open and took out a stick, pressed it between my lips and blew it with my lighter. The effervescence I blew after the crackling sound of the stick burning was pathetically pleasing.
I walked to the park near the club, which was my regular place to smoke and condemn about the world. As I walked in I saw a silhouette sitting on the bench, but I was unable to recognize so I stepped closer and saw that it was Shirley. She had some bags beside her feet. She was staring at the lake and I think she didn't notice me. So I stood beside the bench casually taking a drag. After a few puffs, I noticed she didn't budge at all. So I just went up to the bench scooting a little closer and sat there, what's up with her now?
"You know, people call you loners when you don't notice them." No answer, I didn't look at her while talking but the silence just made me glance at her once. I took yet a long drag to irritate her, but she didn't budge. She looked gloomy, I think it can be the breakup Cole and his girl were talking about. She might be upset about it. But who gets upset over a breakup so much? I mean this is so irrelevant.
"No one's gonna bother about you if you just keep crying over someone so bad and not move on. A petty thing like breakup is not something to look back again and forget about your persistence." Still no fucking response, what in the actual fuck is wrong with her? For fucks sake, I am trying to have a decent conversation which no one expects from me and she is just staring at the stupid lake instead of acknowledging the presence of someone beside her.
