It was later the night and Maya was trying to figure out how she does feel.
She doesn't know what is going to become of her idea and she doesn't want to either.
She thinks this entire thing is too complicated.
Of course Shawn picked up that something is going on but he didn't actually want to nag until he didn't have much of a choice.

"So, where is your mother during this time of the year, Maya?" Shawn asked and Maya sighed.
"Around. She had to work," Maya said.
"Shawn, don't start a thing," Cory said.
"She's lying," Shawn said and Maya exhaled trying not to draw too much attention.

Of course Josh was standing right next to Maya and could see she wasn't okay but didn't know if he had to do something.
Shawn saying Maya's lying caught everyone off guard and now even he is trying to find out what is going on.

"That diner closes at seven on Christmas Eve. Maya, I'm only going to ask you once. Where is your mother?" Shawn asked and Maya swallowed deep.
"Shawn, leave it," Cory said and Josh moved closer to Maya.
"Stop pestering her. Maybe Katy just works another shift with paperwork and Maya doesn't want to bother her," Josh said and Maya shook her head.
"My mom went to Ohio to visit her family. I wasn't invited so I had to stay behind," Maya said.
"She can't do it. You are going to social services. This can't go on. Your mother is going to..."
"Okay, that's enough Shawn. Maya, do you want me to take you home?" Josh asked and Maya nod.
"Okay, let's go. I'll be right back," Josh said as both grabbed their jackets and headed out.
