Silver Nights

Chapter 3

Maya and Josh was at a bakery while Maya wasn't sure what is going on.
Why would Joshua Matthews bring her here if they were on their way to her apartment?

"What are we doing here?" Maya asked and Josh looked at her.
"We are here because I wasn't going to let you stay home alone. Besides, I wanted to talk to you," Josh said and Maya smiled pulling her hair back.
"Josh, what is going on?" Maya asked.
"I'm worried about you. Your mom being away can't be easy and I just want to make sure you're okay," Josh said.
"I'm always okay," Maya said playing with the sleeve of her shirt.
"Yeah, and I'm George Washington," Josh said smiling at the young girl.
"Stop making that stupid expression, it'll just make my mood worse," Maya said causing Josh to smile at her even more.
"Gosh, you are cute when you're mad," Josh said and Maya looked at him.
"You think I'm cute?"

Josh laughed as he took Maya's hand looking in her eyes.

"I think you are a lot of things, so yeah. Cute is one of them. Do you remember what Jasmine said in June?" Josh asked and Maya nod.
"She said that in college they learn a very difficult math and that three years isn't that much of a deal," Maya said.
"And that when you start college maybe I'll be wiser. I've been thinking about that for awhile now. Not just about what she said but about you as well," Josh said causing Maya to smile trying to hide that she is blushing blood red.
"Do you remember when we met last year and we talked while my brother was busy with Shawn and my parents? When you told me about your father?" Josh asked and Maya nod.
"Yeah, did I say anything important?" Maya asked not remembering what exactly happened.
"It's not about what you said but that you trusted me with something. It meant a lot to me that you trusted me barely knowing me. Why did you do that?" Josh asked and Maya smiled looking up.
"I wanted to know what it would feel to trust someone. I know what that feels like now," Maya said.
"You trusted me back then. Do you still?" Josh asked and Maya nod.
"Yeah. I feel safe when you're around and I don't think it can change. I can be in the middle of a third world war but as long as I am with you, I know I'll be safe," Maya said.
"I think we should give us a shot," Josh said and Maya's eyes lit up.
"Maya, you are an amazing girl and I don't want to think what my life would be without you. Never. I don't even want to think about it. So... What do you say, Maya Hart? We giving it a shot?" Josh asked.
"Anytime," Maya said while Josh lifted her hand up giving it a kiss.
"But you better get back home before Mr Matthews starts to worry. I'll be fine on my own," Maya said.
"Okay, let me at least walk you home then I'll go back. Then I'll know you're safe. Let's go."
